Off day today. I am cool with the Jets taking off Sunday in August, but try not to do it when the regular season comes! (excluding MNF/TNF)
I reall hate that DT is BPA all the time, but I’m loving Quinnen. Adams, Darnold, and Williams 3 years in a row is something special.
Hey all! I went to Training Camp yesterday and I thought I’d share my thoughts. This is based upon my opinion of ONE practice. 1) Darnold looked just ok during 7-on-7. There was a lot of tight coverages. He had limited options. He tried to force a pass that got picked off by Trumaine Johnson. 2) Darnold looked great during 11-on-11. He was getting rid of the ball quickly, even when his pocket wasn’t clean. He made several nice throws to Robbie, Jameson and Quincy dropped 2 balls that were great throws by Darnold. 3) Le’Veon looks really, really fresh. He had several nice plays and there was a real difference between him and Montgomery. When Bell was in, the offense was running the ball great. There was a huge dropoff with Montgomery (although he made a couple nice plays in the passing game.) 4) Defense overall did not have a good practice. Gregg Williams said in front of the whole crowd, “if you all don’t start getting some turnovers, I’m cutting your asses.” Jamal Adams was talking to the DBs after practice, in what looked like a motivational, get it together speech. At least we have some veteran leadership. 5) Quinnen Williams did not have a good practice. He got a lot of reps. He gave a good push vs the run game, but was not much in terms of pass rush. He was really low energy and looks out of shape. He’s going to need some time to get used to being in the pros. 6) Trenton Cannon and Greg Dortch both had a good practice on offense and special teams. Again, just my thoughts on one practice. I’ve heard a lot of good with Williams, maybe it was just not his best day.
I've seen a number of separate mentions of drops by Enunwa, not thrilled about it. I remember he had a thumb injury last year and dropped a few balls, wondering if that's something similar.
Seems like a churn. Eagles fans rate this guy as high as we rate, um, Jeremy Clark - not sure how they'd know given he's never played a snap for them.
Polite beating our tackles = Bad OL or he has that great first step Sam lighting it up = training camp fodder or good vibes New LB's in the mix for 1st team = bad TE or middle offense Lets be honest to ourselves we cant get worse then the past 4-12 or 5-11 years Keep your reservations but it is ok to be excited. We have a team growing (hopefully) and we should be proud to watch and entertain the fact we can be good/ok or bad Give me 6-10 or 7-9 and i see progress Give me excitement in Nov and Dec and I will be ecstatic
Big Baby Williams is hilarious. The other day he was talking to the media about working out on his own and he said something like "I've been playing with myself.... oh, that sounds wrong" and the media died laughing If he becomes a great player he will be beloved here
He was talking about the new madden and that he had a 80 rating and after practice he was going to go home and play with him. The clip is in this thread somewhere
He conflated two instances. The first one he referred to was regarding what Williams did to stay in shape during the holdout. Second, was the part you referenced.
He was illustrating 4 very good first round pics, which are the nucleus of young talent on this team. I sure hope those days aren’t over We need to keep that going.
thanks for the review. this is what TGG is all about. When they were doing the 7-on-7 with Darnold, was the offense primarily focusing on one side of the field? if thats the case it makes sense that Darnold struggled, the defense can cheat a little when they know what is coming. it is good practice though for the offense. loved to hear Gregg Williams' comment haha
