Training camp is different from the regular season. They are not obligated to share any information on injuries.

Douglas may just not have shared any information On Crowder because he didn’t want to, not because he didn’t have any

I hear ya. Hopefully, the injury isn't serious and Crowder and Sam will pick up right where they left off in a few days or a week. I'd much rather have Crowder out there as well, just hoping that something positive comes out of it.

With Herndon out the first 4 games we really can’t afford to lose the other top threat to put pressure on the middle of the defense.

Totally unfair. You obviously missed, or choose to ignore, the stellar performance of that work group during the unveiling show for the new uniforms just a few months ago.

The more time that passes without us getting an update on Crowder, the worse I feel about it.

I feel the opposite and that he is probably fine or the injury is minor. Maybe just optimism but if it was bad I think we would have heard something by now.

I agree but that could just be my optimism wishing it to be true

Typically I go with no news is good news on things like this. The other part is there is no reason at all to release any info right now. There’s no practice, no media appointments today so no reason to expect any type of announcement. We’ll get an update after practice tomorrow.

Yes, - great memory. Ross Martin from Duke. NYJ waived him 9/1/2017. Cleveland picked him up in June, 2018 & then released him 8/28/2018.
I could never figure this out, --- from what I remember in 2017 TC, - the kid just didnt miss & was very impressive. It was almost like a Danny Woodhead / Joe McKnight thing going on at kicker instead of the RB position.

Nypost training camp notes. Some good stuff:

    https://nypost.com/2019/07/30/training-camp-signs-jets-could-have-their-best-offense-in-years/

My favorite: Gregg Williams also has his players scoop up any football that hits the ground, even if it is an incomplete pass.

Not exaggerating, there’s nothing in football that drives me crazier than when teams leave the ball on the ground on borderline plays. It’s so easy to just fucking pick it up and you never know what the replay will show. The cost-benefit ratio is infinity.

Edit: yes I got the ratio backwards don’t correct me...

yes, making them pick up every ball is a great habit to instill. Especially with this group of players who have been rather sleepy on defense sometimes the last couple years.

I also think, and its very slight, but nonetheless real, that when a defense is constantly chomping on loose balls it affects the opposing offense mentally to a slight degree.

Like how a home run slugger smashes a pitch out of the park, but foul. It sticks in the pitchers' head, knowing one slight mistake is disaster. Same thing could be said for an offense seeing the defense ready to take every damn loose ball immediately back for a touchdown

    Yeah...but that's baseball.

It's like 10 foul balls in football.

Agreed completely I love this as well. It seems like our new coaching regime is about not only playing hard through the whistle but also playing smart and taking advantage of opportunities to change a game when they arise.
