It's practice. For all we know the Jets offense and the offensive line can be messing around with different blocking schemes and OL splits, as well as different route combinations to see if it will work or not. Until we see the offensive line in a game that the coaching staff schemes for, I'm not going to be concerned.
Think back to 2020....our new oline had ZERO snaps together in pre-season. Their FIRST live snap together as a unit was on the road against Buffalo, then they came home for our opener against the 9'ers. In hind site we never stood a chance. Can you imagine our 2021 oline having zero snaps together and their very first live snap on the road against Carolina? I can't imagine going through all these ups and downs during the regular season. I'm so glad we've had this month to figure this all out, especially with a rookie QB. But my goodness....I wasn't expecting to be legit worried about the left side of our line. Fingers crossed!
This is the same silver lining with the Lawson injury. Imagine losing Lawson a week before the first game. It would have been brutal to figure out in that time. It is better it happened with weeks left so that guys can get work in prior to the season beginning.
I get it and I don't necessarily disagree with you. My only concern is that while this is what you THINK is happening, this is not what we see as happening. I would understand if they get beat here and there, but they are regularly getting beat every time they play starters. They do not get beat during preseason games against backups. Leads me to believe it is not the scheme helping them, but rather the lack of talent they are facing during games. I am hopeful what you are saying is true. I am also confident in Saleh's abilities and do not think he is making shit up. It is just concerning to watch.
Not trying to single you out here, but a post that just has a period always confuses me. Did you mean to say something and just delete it?
This site needs a fucking delete post option. I commented on the chicken sandwich tweet and then the next post said it was a parody account so it was easier to delete my post tbh
While it's concerning to hear that the OL got manhandled by the Eagles "D", keep in mind that the Packers tore it up too before the actual game. Still, in that game the OL faced the Packers #2s so improvement was to be expected. Also, the OL was missing Becton, and not at full strength. This is the reason for T.C. and P.S. games, but we're also sustaining critical injuries. At what point does the "cost" outweigh the "benefit"? This is a reminder that while Douglas has done a great job adding talent to the team, the effects of a decade+ of poor drafting and acquisitions can't be made up overnight. We're really slim on talent, and when the "starters" go down, it often leaves a big hole. So far, Zach seems to be able to manage because he has excellent pocket awareness and a quick release, but that can't make up for everything. But if we still had Sam back there it would be much worse (and resulting in Darnold getting hurt again). I'm going to look on this as good experience and training for what Wilson is sure to experience a lot this season.
hope we exit pre season without any more injuries. That is my primary focus. We need to sit the starters early on. Long season ahead. Any news on Echols?
While I hope he doesn't have to improvise like this a lot this season, this was a big reason I really liked his game from the start - yes, Mahomes-like - which a team with an unproven/mediocre talent pool needs in their QB.
