Regardless of the weight, the concern is that he allows bunch of sacks in practice against everyone. Having the coach say he is not playing his best is a new low. I was expecting after a good first season to have him dominate the training camp the way Lawson did. Instead these reports are worrisome. He has a rookie QB to protect and needs to fix this.
I’ve only seen cimini and his eat himself article , which becton called him out in. Who else said it? and how would Charlie Robinson know how much he weighed by looking at him? honest questions.
No, there’s clear distinction you like Wirfs over Becton. Quite a few state that LT is the harder position then RT and numerous other factors can come into play there including who their QB is (what other posters have said). But then you claim he came to camp overweight (not true nor hasn’t been reported by ANY jet best writer) and he’s a “bad pass blocker” when by all accounts he’s not bad at all (pff grades and legit any scout say otherwise). Does he struggle with certain type of pass rushers? Yes that seems to be the case, and yes he’s struggling in camp. But don’t come in here saying things that aren’t true, that’s why you catching flack.
I think he got banned today. Earlier in the thread Brook said he was banning someone. I assumed it was him. While there are many candidates I would think he has likely distinguished himself above other bad posters.
No doubt there’s some cause for concern. I’m just trying to sort through what’s real and what’s being carried over from the draft .
There is a common syndrome known as the "sophomore slump" in every sport. The first year a good player has a lot of success because no one has the "book" on him yet, and this can lead to the rookie thinking he's better than he is, and not taking the off season seriously and then reality hits the 2nd year. There may be some of that. Add in having to learn a whole new system and blocking scheme, and new players around him, including a different QB, and his struggles aren't really surprising. I was willing to refrain from getting too negative, but the comment Saleh(?) made about that he's "going through a few things" is concerning. They have a lot invested in him, and I'm sure they'll work with him to get him over the hump and in the long run he'll be a good LT, but that can't happen soon enough.
Saleh had some comments about wanting Becton to be at a weight where he's quick enough to play well. If reading between the lines there doesn't indicate there was a weight issue then idk what to say. Some of you act like there's no issue unless Saleh came out and said "Becton is too fat".
So how did Zach look today? The rest of the team? Or did they cancel practice after Lawson went down?
not reading garbage that gets assholes banned. ahh my ignore list is so well cultivated. anyway, itd suck if Lawson is done.
i preferred Wirfs over Becton. And so far it seems to me my inclination is proving to be correct. It seems Wirfs is a more well rounded T than Becton so far... ALOT remains to be seen, however....
i have litreally heard popping noises come from my achilles... itfelt "strained" after... tho i would never say i heard a POP could be ankle too... lotsa ligaments in there can go BLAM too
I dont think Robert Saleh is gonna tell the whole league his left tackle is fat and slow 2 weeks before the season starts. Saleh is a smart guy
Exactly, he's not going to outright say it. He's smarter than that. He did have comments about wanting Becton to be the optimal weight for playing though. Reading between the lines and considering other people HAVE said Becton came into camp overweight it's pretty clear there was an issue. Ridiculous that some people act like it was made up out of thin air.
