Because Mark will come otu and put up an above-average season AT BEST and then Rex and co. will continue to be attached to his hip. How many mediocre seasons will it take to pull the plug. That is my issue

Can we leave Smith the fuck alone.

He seems like a nice guy, and the Sanchez media rehabilitation campaign, is starting to get to him.

Get it straight. Geno was NEVER the starter. Idzik, isfucking this poor guy over, almost as bad, as Schotty screwed Sanchez. (or more correctly, Tanny, by stickimg with Schotty).

Can we just let the kid play, without heaping the failed expectations of rescuing the Sanchez pick, on his damn shoulders?

Guys, go back, look what I said since the Garrard signing. sanchez was ALWAYS going to to start, this bullshit, is about media rehab and selling tickets, and now Geno....is caught in the middle.

Look at the shit that has been written about this guy, as recently as this week.

If Rex,and Idzik, came out and said, "we hired Garrard, to compete with Mark, that didnt work out...but we are going to let Geno, be Geno". Is he under such intense scrutiny?

No, they put him where the fucking media painted him as Wilson....

Idzik, made a rookie mistake...but unless he admits it, it should detract from any respect he gets for a decent off season

Smith, who expected to go top 10...did not deserve to be treated like this.

    Just my opinion.

You are all really reading to much into what Rex said .. holy crap. What if he is calling out Geno as a motivational tool, much as he has done with Kerley, Coples and others?

Honestly might have to take some time off from reading the board until this damn starting QB thing is decided. The haters on each side are killing it for me.

Who the F* cares who wins, as long as the Jets are winning ... at the end of the damn day that is what matters. Geno - Mark - or Matt Sims (that is just a tweek at the McElroy fans - figure why regulate this shit to just Smith and Sanchez) ... lets just win games.

    Guys see above.

I may be a Sanchez supporter. But this has always been nothing more than a media campaign, to sell tickets.

Geno, got fucked by his GM.

Unless you think David Garrard, was reallly going to be able to start.....

Dont listen to what they say.

    Watch what they do.

    Looking at you Fozzi:wink:

This is what makes sport message boards so infuriating sometimes.

I disagree, I think this was always a competition and it was slanted in geno's favor. All he had to do was prove he was ready to play week 1 and he would have been the starter. He didn't have to outplay Mark, if he was ready to go he would be starting.

    Is it because he's black?

As stated previous times, Geno is just not ready to start at the pro-level. Give him a season to take everything in.

    Junc, never.

The Garrard signing tells you what it was.

This was media manipulation, to rehab Sanchez, to sell tickets.

Unless you believe, idzik, is so brilliant, that he KNEW Geno would drop to39.

He takes Smith, at 9 or 13...you have a case.

    He didnt. You dont.

I know you hated to type that out bro

Ive followed politics far too long, to be wrong about something this...farcical.

And anyone, can go all the way back to the draft, and find me saying it was unfair to Geno.

Im a Geno fan. He is a Jet.

    So is Nacho.

Its beyond frustrating. Rex's love affair with Sanchez is something that he cant even seem to shake when holding a press conference.

Geno throws a few picks today and its "brutal". Sanchez throws yet another pick 6 to a DE during a game, and its just something that "cant happen". Geno seems to be the recipient of blunt criticism, while Sanchez seems to still be getting passes from Rex. Also notable how Rex easily loves to points out if Sanchez had a great day or did something notable...

I like Rex and think he's a good coach. But his loyalty to players may be the death of him. I hope Im wrong in my thinking though

So your saying you would rather not support Mark Sanchez AND the Jets? If Mark has an above average year and we dont have a wining record, then the Defense totally shit the bed (I doubt that). I just dont get this logic, but I saw your screen name so it kind of makes sense, no objectivity at all...

I enjoy putting in my two cents when in regards to Geno and Sanchez from time to time but as a fan, I just wish we were receiving more in depth practice reports such as how players such as Ivory, Milliner, Richardson, Ellis, Davis, Barnes/Pace, Coples, Winslow Jr., Cumberland, Hill, Braylon etc. are all doing on a daily basis. What about our Free Safety battle between Allen, Bush and Jarrett? Or which offensive lineman is out performing who out of Colon, Winters, Schlauderaff, Ducasse, Peterman and Howard. Haven't even heard anything about these guys same goes for our OLB position opposite of Coples in Barnes/Pace. But at the same time when Sanchez/Geno are the topic of discussion with a quarterback battle it's expected to see lots of thoughts/posts during training camp threads so I'm not complaining, just wish I had a better grasp of how surrounding teammates are currently looking heading into the regular season.

If Mark starts Saturday, it was never slanted in Geno's favor. As of recently, it seems like Mark is slightly outplaying Geno, but not enough to warrant an end to the competition- which is what starting Mark Saturday would essentially mean.

In my eyes, if Geno suits up Saturday, he has to start. If he doest then this was never a true competition.

    1 he doesn't need a season
2 he's ready to play but I think they want him to be ready to lead

He has too many fundamental flaws in his game right now - footwork, reading defenses, taking snaps under center.

One TC won't fix that, he needs to sit a year.

Regarding your 2nd comment - being ready to lead requires being on the field - I don't think this plays a role at all. Teammates already see leadership qualities in Geno.

It's all about what he's doing on the field.

Smith insisted his ankle was no factor in his poor day. "Not one bit," he said.

How will him sitting a year on the bench help any of those three "fundamental flaws"? He can practice all he wants, but he will not get anywhere. He needs that game experience
