Have to wonder how pissed/demoralized/sad Idzik is that his 'prize' can't even go toe to toe with the worst QB in the NFL. One more day like today and Idzik will commit hari-kari. The minute Geno was drafted 100% of the NFL world from TGG, Rex, Idzik, Woody, and every talking head ditched the pencil and used a Sharpie to pencil in Geno's name. When Mark just shrugged and stated he'd win any competition and be the starting QB, everyone thought he was delusional. Funny how fast the world changes after a tweeked throwing ankle and one bad practice.
hindered more like it, sabotage implies purposeful tampering for a negative result, which is obviously not the case.
The competition isn't over yet. Let's see what happens if Sanchez throw a couple ints and geno looks good this week vs the jags.
That is what I don't understand about Jets fans. I would get it if other NFL fans felt like Sanchez was terrible in 2012, but the fans should see the bigger picture. No weapons at all due to lack of talent and injuries, Tony Sparano one of the worst offensive coordinators I have ever seen, constantly getting yanked off the field for Tebow to come in for a play ruining momentum, Tebow in general, it was terrible. Sanchez held strong for as long as he could, but the Buttfumble literally ruined his psyche. Wasn't the same after that.
Too bad we couldnt trade for Fitzgerald. Then, the face of the Franchise, would be... Larry,Mo, and Kerley... Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck
That's what Geno needs to get this thing back on track. I really do hope Geno has a really good game. I want the 'decision' to be as brutal as possible on the coaching staff.
These are all facts. However, Sanchez was still terrible. I agree with you that he wasn't bad early in the season, but he had no help around him. Then he lost confidence because he had no confidence in anyone around him, and it snowballed into him playing like dog crap. The issue is that Sanchez has NEVER played above average football for more than a game or two at a time. You excused it because he was young. He no longer has that excuse. Now, it's time to produce. Not giving him a backup with any chance to take his job didn't really work to improve his play. Let's try giving him a backup who can take his job. And if he falters, then he will lose his job, for good. And if he succeeds, good for the team.
you are awarded many points for that... then deducted for depressing me over the fact that this isn't so...
The truth is between the Sanchez homers who excuse everything bad he's ever done (you, junc) and the Sanchez haters who call him one of the worst quarterbacks of all time and refuse to ever root for Sanchez again (a lot of Jets fans). He's a below average quarterback with the tools to potentially be above average with the right tools around him. I hope he can become an above average quarterback and lead the Jets places. The issue is he's getting paid like he's a very good quarterback, and he's not, and he's never been.
unless he does it now, he'll never get the chance. one bad game and he's just filling in for garrard as starting stop gap. that seems extreme but seeing as how a promising rookie is here and cheap and he's expensive and is otherwise wasting money that can be spent on supporting that rookie he needs to put up or shut up NOW. I've tried my bets to be patient and objective but thats the reality as far as I can tell.
1. Mark isn't the worst QB in the league 2. Sanchez haters thought he was delusional not the entire fanbase This whole comment is full of bullshit and this is strictly from a Sanchez haters perspective.
If the only way for Sanchez to play great is to get superior talent around him that's not what you want Does he need help yeah but tell me Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Ryan, Etc couldn't do good with our team and help from our defense
Bullshit. None of us excuse his faults. But the simple truth is, hes an above average qB, thats been shackled by shit coaching, and talent.
There are so many people in this thread that need to get the sand out of their vaginas. Geezus. What the fuck. Stop being a bunch of fucking queer bitches
Well the problem is, Sanchez didnt "hold strong". He was great vs the Bills, and then had 2-3 solid games sprinkled in amongst many very bad games. He didnt weather any storm. He became a big part of the storm, sadly. He played well vs the Bills, Colts (where he threw for 82 yards- ultra game manager mode), Rams and Patriots. Thats about it. He put the ball on the ground three times and threw two picks during those games also. 2 of those games he attempted 20 or fewer passes. Hard to imagine this team airing it out. He certainly did not give any confidence boosters for the future.
Nothing supports this other than only a handful of very good games sprinkled in throughout his career. He has not proven he can be a consistently above average QB (which would be around top 12). If he did, there wouldnt be so many people seriously doubting him, and I doubt Geno is even drafted.
I'm happy Geno had a rough day You can't improve without fucking up and being called out unlike Mark who's fuck ups weren't his fault Show us what you got Saturday Geno
