You have to use at least ONE draft pick to select a player. What we did was give up 2 additional 3rd round picks while getting an additional 4rh round pick back. The net result is the Jets lost one overall pick to select a guy Douglas really wanted. I can't kill him for that no matter how it all worked out.
If you dig even more and look at how the FO said they ranked their board it is likely the Jets would have used the 23rd pick on Moore and the 66 pick on MC. Which means for AVT they have up the 34 and 86 picks for AVT. Or in other words they gave up the 86th pick to move up from 34 to 14 (not 23 as that would have been used on Moore). That is great value.
Y'all are hilarious, I've seen this same debate here a few times and it boils down to the same thing: either you trust the GM to cherry pick sometimes and trade up, or you don't, and you'll almost never be pro a trade up. Neither group is going to convince the other that they're wrong, yet the same debate happens over and over. This is just a difference of perspectives - neither group is "right" in any meaningful way. Can we just be happy that AVT is a beast? Lol. Sent from my IN2015 using Tapatalk
I see you those clowns and raise you these clowns https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1101368576671722 These are the player in questions stats https://www.premierleague.com/players/4288/Kevin-De-Bruyne/stats and that is just league games lol Pair of cunts
It was bad because Tucker still would have been there at our original pick ... and if even if someone selected him, Christian Darrisaw would have been the likely selection and he's just as good (if not better).
Or Minny still takes Darrisaw, Vegas takes AVT now that he is there, and we take Leatherwood, then use 3d round pick on Wyatt Davis. How does that scenario look? Or we take Moore and Tevin Jenkins. Come on now. We ended up with the guy who has performed as a top 10 player in 3 positions this year and made all rookie PFF team last year. Durable too. Being upset with this trade now is not a reasonable reaction.
Believe at the time they were looking for someone on the interior of the line. AVT was graded out as an elite r prospect by the scouts of the Jets and some draft pundits. We all were clamoring for getting elite and premier talent, and JD did that. Not sure why he was getting killed for it. Grab as much top tier talent and go out there. Cream rises to the top. I’d rather that then the potentially solid-decent players they may have picked.
