The Jets aren't getting anything better than a fourth rounder( probably a fifth rounder at best) for Sheldon Richardson( one year rental making over 8 million dollars per year.
The Jets aren't getting a third rounder in 2019 if Sheldon Richardson leaves in 2018. They will have 80 million dollars in Cap Space- what chance they don't use that money to be big players in Fa. ( If that's true the Jets won't get nada if Richardson leaves in Fa).

Now do you take that fifth rounder and get 8 million plus more dollars for 2018, or do you keep him on a team going nowhere this year. Only to see him leave for nothing.

In Madden I traded him for Tevin Coleman.

Sheldon will be a MONSTER this year. No doubt about it.............because it is a contract year and all he cares about is $$$$$$$$$$. I don't want him back in 2018 on a huge deal. No way.

  4. Although I want Sheldon traded..should we fear Bowles & co immediately turning around & prioritizing DL yet again in the draft? It sounds crazy but so is this team.

Well I'll you what I think: there are more teams out there with the caliber of the Giants OL than there are the Raiders. All Sheldon as to do against the Raiders is put constant pressure on the QB - I'll be fine with that. He'll be fine as long as he plays the position he was meant to play ( if Bowles doesn't pull the 2016 playbook out)

If he does have a monster year, I'd consider franchise tag next offseason, and opening up trade talks again.

Trading him now likely won't produce much in return.
He needs a prove it season to raise interest.

How did that plan work out with Muhammad Wilkerson. No team wants to pay the salary he wants, and give up high pick in the process.

The Jets have three of the same players, and only two spots. Time to use that money to get someone that will complement the other two. Again just my opinion, and your opinion might be different.

it would be dumb to trade richardson now. his value is low and we have the cap room. he's young and we can build around him. Unless we can get another good young player at a position of need or a really high pick, i say we keep him this season and see if his value gets higher. maybe able to trade him in the 2018 offseason (franchise and trade) if he has a monster year. Or even decide to keep him if wilk has a down year. I think we should use this season to evalute where we stand with rich and wilk. not to mention we have room to keep both now anyway and with NFL injuries it's always good to have extra talent. Plus we can't rule out the possibility of a new coach in 2018 with a 4-3 system meaning all 3 can play the line every down anyway. in 4 down lineman we often see one DE line up at DT for us

Well I think you can creatively get all 3 guys onto the field as Dlineman, so I don't believe there are only 2 spots for them.

I agree we are not going to get a very high pick for Richardson.
But right now, we aren't going to get shite. If he has a monster year this season, it would drive up his value, and maybe we'll get something better than shite along with having his services this season.

    Agreed.
If we got another talented player on last year of contract, then I'd probably take that swap.

Otherwise, I'd let him play it out to enhance our flexibility next offseason.

And if his value doesn't go higher, he walks and we get nothing in return. How smart is that?

we could get a comp pick ;) and it would likely be better then anything we'd get for him now. at this point we'd be lucky to get a 5th rounder

With all the cap space the Jets have, they'll be signing multiple players, and they'll get no pick for Richardson. I disagree that we'd only get a 5th round pick.

Guys, please forget about this comp pick for Sheldon BS.
We will have 80-90M cap space next season, we will sign a lot of guys (if not better to fire Macc) and after a weak season, no one will throw big money to Sheldon...

Richardson should be re-signed ...he's a beast when he's on his game.

If Sheldon has a big year, and Mo Wilk's play doesn't bounce back to Pro Bowl level, I'd be fine with releasing Wilkerson, and resigning Richardson, after this season. They'll be a cap hit, but you'd ostensibly be giving Mo's money to a younger better player.

Richardson is too much of a wildcard to build around. The key here is getting something in return that will actually help the team moving forward.

Trading Richardson is a mistake... but Hack needs to be kicked out of the team immediately.

    Same people advocating both.

    Now.. THAT's SOJF!!

you can disagree but clearly teams aren't lining up to trade a good pick for him. we've been shopping him for months. Ideally we could keep all 3 DEs we have the room
