Well hopefully all it does is get the Pirates out and they keep Hermida, Tucker, and Stanton. Or the Matt Kemp rumors come back.
That would be a great move for the Mets, they could replace one of their shitty relievers with an equally shitty reliever.
You don't want a guy with a 5.54 ERA to solidify our bullpen? You must be crazy. It's like Omar is making a move, just because it's the deadline. Frustrating.
I don't know. Now they can at least pay him the lip service that they tried their best, etc. OTOH, if he continues to dog it, which I think he's been doing since at least the time he looked at three straight strikes against Mo as a pinch hitter a couple of weeks ago in the aftermath of being fined for assaulting the clubhouse secretary, they should suspend him without pay and take it up with the union. Lets see how much support he gets. The dope doesn't know how good he's got it.
I mostly agree. At the same time, the Sox as an organization need to take a good look at themselves. They created the monster that is "Manny being Manny". You can't put the genie back in the bottle. I think the union would support him if the Sox tried something like that. They'd have to, otherwise you'd see teams "disciplining" more often. The unions aren't there to do the right thing, just to protect the players.
Well, I despise the Sox as an organization, and their fanbase, so the fact that their enabling of a petulant child may be coming back to haunt them is fine by me. Manny truly doesn't know how wrong he is. The Sox do deserve him. You're right about the union of course. His teammates should be kicking the shit out of him, though. Their "C"aptain could always put on all his catching gear and pick a fight with him.
While it would be a good trade for the Sox, I would love it to happen just so that I could watch Torre suffer through trying to figure out how to deal with Manny.
Deadline come and gone, and as far as anyone knows, Manny was not moved. I don't mind that. Deadline come and gone, the Red Sox didn't acquire any relief help or anything else. That makes me furious.
Niese is a 21-year old lefty that had an interesting spring with the Mets. He's done remarkably well with the double-a Mets, was called up to Triple-A, and threw 7 IP gave up 3 hits and one run with 7 k's. He is easily the Mets #1 pitching prospect after the Santana trade. He's untouchable because of the Mets lack of depth after this upcoming season in the rotation. Both Pedro/Perez are free agents and the Mets will likely give Niese the 5th rotation spot if he continues his success through the minors.
