Fuck the Pirates. They make out like crazy in this. Keep them the hell out of it and do the other deal. If you're going to give up your cleanup hitter you should at least get young players back.
Pirates might make up for that Nady/Marte head scratcher here. A talented, cheap, ML-experienced player in Hermida and three prospects.
The fans of every baseball team that hasn't won 2 world championships since 2004 would like to cordially invite you to go fuck yourself.
only problem from boston is they are giving a prospect. you're not gunna replace manny ramirez. but if you decided you're gunna deal him to get rid of the off the field shit, jason bay isn't an awful replacement and yeah, cut the woe is me stuff when you're a red sox fan.
Not at all, but if they trade Manny, the season is done. It probably is anyway, especially since the Angels are all but in the World Series, but that would clinch it. So in that case, they should just go for the younger talent.
 :shit: Pirates definitely made up for the Nady/Marte deal. This is what happens when a player really, really, really wants out. Leverage is lost.
I honestly don't think the drop off is going to be that dramatic. Manny clearly didn't give a shit anymore, and Bay is not only going from a perennial joke to his first chance to win something, but also moving from a park that favored pitchers to one where right handed hitters can gun for the Monster. They'll be fine.
Bay's good, but the Sox should be getting prospects in this deal, not giving them up. Not when you're trading the best player in the deal.
It's a blog. Let Rosenthal or Olney break this and I'll buy it. Until then, this is just some guy putting something, that actually sounds good and decent, but it's unknown.
Calling Baseball Prospectus a blog is all kinds of ignorant. ESPN has a pretty awful track record of making shit up or stealing people's scoops anyway, so fuck them.
I've just had it. For the last week I've heard nothing but talking about getting rid of one of the best players on my team while two of the main threats in the league get better. Then the ace goes out and gets shelled and the team makes all kinds of errors. They aren't even fucking trying anymore.
Power to the blogs. I don't believe any reporter from ESPN except Peter Gammons. Only two people I trust in times like these is Gammons and Ken Rosenthal. Carroll has my respect, but Gammons did say that the talks will follow into Thursday, so I don't know yet.
