Cause they are oldies & I wanted to make sure young ones on this board knew who I was talking about & if I used CP & RT most would not know just like they did not BF was & he is recent .
Cleveland also listening to offers for Jordan Cameron as well. Make it a package deal and we're insta upgraded harrrrrrd.
As we should. This is a team of the future, we just need to keep learning and hope that our rookies and young guys continue to improve so that we can be a true contender next year. Fact is we are a handful of lucky plays from being 2-6 easily. The beginning of our schedule is brutal but it eases up in the end which will allow us to build some momentum for 2014. The focus is and should continue to be on next year. This year has gone well so far in terms of reshaping our roster. We have risen from one of the top 3 worst teams in the league to a team with a promising future. Lets not trade away picks we need to continue our rebuild just for a one and done appearance in the playoffs.
Yep on both counts. The Jets trade for Braylon Edwards was in support of a deep veteran team that had a weak receiving corps after Cotchery began to break down. That same trade this year does next to nothing for the Jets because all the other pieces aren't in place. It's depressing, hence the thread title, but it's reality.
No reason to waste a draft pick on this team. Had they won yesterday then maybe take a shot. On the other hand, every pick we give away on a proven player is one less chance we take another Gholsten, Wilson or Miliner.
Has The Onion done a story on it yet? There has to be some Jon Stewart-ish truth in the spectacle of a continual also-ran trying to unload good young players in the name of building for the future.
 great post. Patience is a virtue. In a year the D line was fixed through the draft, nobody has been able to move the ball on the ground against us. We are also one bad pick from being 5-3. We should have beat New England in the first game, it was right there for the taking. Tenn and Cincy were the only outright bad games, as bad as pitt was we were in it until the end. If you can get a character guy like Fitz for fair value than you make that trade. So far, there is no reason to flame Idzik strategy. Great empires are not built in a day. Next weekend is November 1st and the Jets are very much alive to make a playoff run. If you are a Jets fan than you have to happy with that. Dig in deep.
Trading picks for players is usually a bad idea, long-term. I think the Jets ought to hang on to their picks.
This Jets team is not one player from being a SB contender. It would be a mistake in my opinion. Any move that takes any chips away for the future defeats the gains they are making now. The Jets are finally heading in the right direction IMO! They have built a DL that is going to be a force for many years. Now they need to build the OL and some skill positions thru the draft. The Jets are moving in the right direction but being overanxious to get where they want to be would be a big mistake.
Don't forget LT. we should draft a LT and move D'Brick to right. He is not a very good blind side tackle.
yeah,I'm already declaring whomever the Jets draft in 2024 a bust, because that is how much I enjoy being a Jet fan.
As long as Idzik doesn't lose sight of his timeline which I imagine is 2015 and beyond, he'll be fine and the Jets will eventually start to jell. Trading DP's is the wrong way to go because it suggests this team is better than it actually is. The clock isn't running on the team. We're not staffed by old vets on a tight timeline to win. We got time. Lets use it wisely.
