If this trade ever happened; it would not get done until the Jets were on the clock - it depends on who is there at the time. I do agree that in terms of value the 22, 31, and a 3rd seems right. The only thing I worry about is that at the 22 and 31 spot there may not be the talent level available vs. what you would have to pay the pick. I am not sure I would want to fall that far down on the board. It would however, make a lot of sense to trade with somebody foaming at the mouth over McFadden and drop down to the 8 or 9 spot.
At #22 & #30...Jets' could draft DT Frank Okam & a OT. Then grab maybe a CB in 2nd rnd. All would be huge upgrades to overall depth.
With Dallas losing to the Giants...Look for Cowboys to try to trade up for McFadden. He's the (Dorsett) RB to get them over the hump
The draft value chart says NO, but the way I see it, you can pay them less together than the 6th overall pick by himself and you're filling 2 holes instead of 1.
I went for No here. My reason is that with the #6 pick in the draft I think there is a very high chance of getting an impact player to compliment our activity in the FA Market. Once you are down at 20 and below the bust factor gets higher and it is harder to find talent - that is where your scouting ability is really tested - if I recall Bryan Thomas was selected around 22, and I would consider him a bust at that pick - he had a non-existent rookie year and really has not lived up to that selection, IMO. If we do nothing in FA like 2007, then we better pray that somebody wants to trad up, because we will need to fill a lot of gaping holes in order to avoid another sub-par season.
Aw c'mon brother. I hear what you are saying, but Ed Reed was picked at #24 after Bryan Thomas in the 1st round in 2002. I would opt to trade down to acquire more picks and fill more spots. The way I look at it, the more picks we get, the faster we can change the face of this squad. The faster we can change the face of this squad, the faster we'll be able to compete more effectively.
Umm, isn't Marion Barber in the Pro Bowl??? Why does Dallas need McFadden??? There is no way the Cowboys trade UP to take him. And I hate to break it to you, but the Jets are not taking him either. This man love for McFadden is getting ridiculous. RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. For every McFadden there is a Ryan Grant.
6th pick is worth more than the 22 and 30th together. Maybe if they also through in their 3rd rounder. Than I would deffinately do it. This draft is really deep and loaded with great talent. No realy over hyped players in this draft, no Reggie Bushs no Calvin Johnsons. Just good players. I would take 3 more day 1 players, absolutely. But not just 2.
They will likely be losing Julius Jones. Incase you haven't learned, you ALWAYS need good back ups. The Bucs went all the way to their 3rd stringer, who was great (Graham). Not to mention Juluis Jones is their yard guy. Barber can't carry the load by himself and he lacks break away speed. McFadden would be the perfect compliment to him.
Wouldn't be much of a forum if people didn't ask what was on their mind, would it? People ask a question, and other people answer (with their thoughts, opinions, and some with message board muscles to make other feel dumb.) Pretty simple, Huh?
Reality Check People, If Dallas trades up for Mcfadden it will be to Oakland! Since we lost the meaningless game to Kc slipping to sixth screwed us. We lose even when we win!
Fireman Ed has been on IR all year, I doubt his trade value is worth a 3 ounce jar of silver Oakland facepaint right now.
