Yep Pick a Jets player and offer him blind allegiance.. Buy a t shirt with his numeral and a name like Mevi$ and Mo Wilk... It could be making you superhero great in some way Its more Homerism than H Simpson...oh wait ...its millions down the drain to pay them..meh Mo Wilks checks will not bounce. Whether he can bounce back is not a gimme from Cimini SMH
Root for the laundry and worship the great players of the past who did great things. That's the way to get and stay ahead as a sports fan.
Never contented and never gave up. But as old time Jet fan I am freaking sick of same sh#t different year. Also this just may be our ear (gulp! to finish dead last) Woe is me and my fellow old time Jet fans.
Giving away your top player for peanuts makes sense only if you're planning to finish last more than one year. I'm assuming you want to finish last once to hopefully get your QB, right? If this is so, save Mo for later, 2018, 2019, when maybe you'll be competitive enough to want and need a good player.
There's 0 chance that any team is stupid enough to give up a good draft pick to voluntarily eat his contract. Which is why this thread is mental masturbation that's not going to happen.
No I don't want to finish last I want to win the SB. But that stupid reality keeps kicking us in the azz. Between dumb drafts picks, stupid management and/or coaching and injuries. We just can't seem to do the right thing. I would rather keep Mo and have a championship and I wouldn't want to trade him for peanuts. A smart GM does what is best for the team. I agree with your response about getting peanuts for him if we trade him.. PS. I would rather pick the LSU running back with the sixth pick. LGJ
We finished dead last in 1995 and 1996 and nearly went to the Super Bowl in 1998. Food for thought. We might have gotten Peyton Manning out of those fiasco years also if things had gone a bit differently.
I think the Cowboys might give up a future 1st (conditional pick w/safeguards for the Jets) for Mo. It would be value this year without giving anything up for the year and they're dealing with the Giants in an Eli-push for one more ring. Jerry Jones will do a deal for the big tackle who can bring pressure inside and Mo is that guy. They'll be the team willing to cut Mo if it doesn't work out. Jones wants a Super Bowl. Jets need to man up and go looking for that deal.
His value hopefully would increase as he comes back from a broken leg. It gives the Jets options. Maybe the Jets keep him. Who knows. It's such a knee jerk reaction to trade Mo this off season. Getting a conditional first for Mo is probably one of the more unrealistic ideas I've heard. Maybe in 2 years we could make that trade should we play him in the correct position.
Cond 1st is a ridiculous idea, especially dealing with Jones. So Cowboys rent Mo for a year to try to win SB, for conditional 1st. If they win SB -- mission accomplished -- they will release Mo before the deadline to avoid giving Jets 1st. If they don't win SB -- mission failed -- they will release Mo before the deadline to avoid giving Jets 1st. So what it amounts to is giving Mo for maybe 2nd so that Cowboys get a chance to win SB. I don't hate 'boys, but I certainly don't like them that much.
the jets couldn't find a trade partner for a first when Wilkerson was entering the last year of his rookie deal. and now youre saying the Jets will be able to do that after signing him to a multi year extension? okay.
Right now, he's more valuable if he were to stay as a Jet. As long as he's utilized correctly which seems to be a common theme.
Really the Jets need to do a better job of adapting to their defensive personnel than they did last year. Not confident they will but let's see. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Why in the world would a team that just drafted a probable superstar sophomore QB bone themselves by taking on an inflated contract that isn't worth it even if Wilkerson plays better than he ever has before for multiple years, and oh by the way he just played like shit last year after getting that contract. And they're going to give up a first rounder for the privilege? The Cowboys are potentially competing for the Super Bowl any and every year for the next 15 years, and they're going to make a short sighted desperation plunge with literally nothing but downside for all but next year?
Key words They (Prescott and Elliot) haven't won a playoff game yet, and you're already having the 'Boys competing for Super Bowls every year for the next 15 years. That's mental bukake. Lol
It makes sense to unload Wilk now b/c even though he had a down year...his arrow might be pointing up as he will be fully healthy moving forward, is already signed long term(rightly or wrongly) is scheme diverse, & will have a chip on his shoulder. If I'm an opposing team...I have him targeted b.c I believe I can get him at a slight discount while simultaneously envisioning a bounce back performance moving forward.Wilk maybe the best player on the team as it stands..but he may not be here for if/when the team really turns things around. It'd be healthy to remove the bad vibes from last season from the building...and stockpile picks while he still has some prime value. If possible..you unload Sheldon as well..if team's wanna try to advocate a discounted compensation package based on the 2 strikes & lack of production...the Jets should leverage the potential for a 3rd round compensatory pick they are in line for in 2018 should he be retained and then walk next offseason..as well as the notion that the interested suitor could theoretically re-sign Sheldon at a discounted rate w. heavy character/discipline laiden incentives. If I'm Macagnan..and I cant get better than an early 3rd this year....I look for a 6th-7th this year & a conditional 3rd that can elevate to a 2nd in 2018. That way they are safe guarded for the 2018 compensatory pick. This is not a 1 year re-build. But w. the decent amount of stockpiled picks & quality evaluation...the 2018 season could have a very different feel. Of course...this all would open the Jets to the notion of drafting yet another interior DL early...which would really send this fan base into lockdown..
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer Just FYI, more proof Mo isn't hampering the cap. Let this man beast from the interior and let's get some speed to surround Leonard and Mo. Mo ain't going nowhere.
