Absolutely. It is exhausting to hear so many different reports. My guess is 25% of them are true.

They can't be. Reports have us taking any one of like 10 players, trading down, trading up, doing the hokey pokey, turning yourself around. Based on all the rampant speculation, it's like 5% are right.

“Mo is on our team now,” Bowles told reporters on Tuesday. “That’s all I can go by.”

You get the top prospect in the draft who is projected to be just as good as Mo with three extra years to worry about a contract. You get a comparable player for a cheaper price and you get to still have a formidable duo with him and Sheldon. Then the chances of Mariota falling in your lap at 6 is still really good. This is just fantasy obviously and would not be the smartest moves as there is too much risk involved but its just a thought. However I would trade Wilk for some offensive fire power, Now I don't see that in this draft outside of WR and I'd say we are pretty set at that position. So perhaps if we could get a QB for Wilk its a deal I might consider.

On ESPN, Tedy Bruschi said that he wouldn't even trade Wilkerson for the #1 overall pick. And the rest of the ESPN crew were all saying how ridiculous it would be for the Jets to trade Wilk, how this would never happen, pure rumor, etc. They called him the 2nd best D-lineman in the NFL after JJ Watt, and only 25 years old, not even in his prime yet....no way any GM in his right mind would consider trading someone like that!

I get what your saying but the only hitch is that we have a player that is just as good if not better playing the same position on the other side of the line expecting a payday next year. We also have the most expensive secondary in the league. Now we are going to have the most expensive d line too, it doesn't make sense you can't invest that much in the defense without addressing the offense.

I for one would be unhappy to see Mo traded, but in fairness I can not phantom us investing that much money on him and then press it up some more for Richardson. Way too much money on the front D line. Something tells me our GM is looking far ahead and trying to figure out what the right balance will be, particularly in light of the current investments with Revis and the like and the short term need to retool the OL.

In Mac the knife I trust. Thus my theory that the Jets will try to trade down and build as much good talent thru the draft as possible while we continue to search for the QB we need.

The best franchises keep their cornerstone players while in their prime. Mo Wilk has been a model pro on and off the field from all aaccounts.

I'd rather have a dominant D this year, pickup a stud OLB/DE or WR at #6, see what FitzGeno gives us at QB, and then address QB next year.

If any deal to get Mariota includes losing one of our top players, then I'd pass.

We know what Fitz/Geno gives us, they aren't rookies you know.

This to the millionth degree. In order to win a superbowl you need to be great at 2 of the 3 phases and average at the other. Let's make sure we are spectacular on D as we have so many more pieces on that side and let's hope either Fitz or Geno can be AVERAGE and put up 23ish points a game. We would be a dangerous team if that could happen.

True but new system, fresh start. I want to give them a chance under Gailey before I totally poo poo our QB play.

I get what you are saying however with the cap being as high as it is and growing, it is stupid to lose great players not even in their prime yet, those are the guys that you build around not lose

Anyway, the Jets have made it clear they will not trade Mo so everything is moot and if they don't trade him today he becomes pretty much untradeable as he will be a FA next year.

I'd be happier with the trade if his name was Williamson.

I don't pretend to know much about college football, but everyone says next year's Qb crop is likely to be even more mediocre than this year's. I know you did not say address Qb next year in the draft, but it is likely to be no easier to obtain a quality NFL Qb in a trade or FA than it ever is, so I don't know what you think is likely to be done next year in regard to Qb.

The more significant element missing from your post is what is the cost of retaining Wilkerson. There must be something to the fact that he has not yet been signed. That something could quite logically be a salary demand from him that that FO thinks is too high. As others here have pointed out, Richardson's contract will have to be dealt with as well in the near future. How much can the Jets invest in their D when the O is so lacking in production due to having Smith as the Qb?

The point is you can't look at Wilkerson's talent in a vaccuum. You have to consider how he fits in the team, regarding its needs going forward, and whether it is best to keep him if that requires overpaying him, meanwhile the Qb position is awful.

If the FO thinks Wilkerson is asking too much, and they can obtain Mariota in a trade, I would do that despite what someone on ESPN might say.

Not only that but Richardson will also have a 5th year option that the Jets will probably pick up after this season, the big contracts the Jets signed this year are heavy for this season and next season and then there will be a lot of flexibility to sign Rich in 2017 long term even after signing Wilk long term. The Jets don't have a giant QB contract to work around like a lot of other teams that have to make these kinds of sacrifices with young talent on defense

    1) why would the titans trade for mo when they can just draft leonard williams, get him cheaper, and have him under team control longer?

    2) if we trade up to 2, id rather just draft leonard williams at #2 and take mariotta/cooper/white at 6.

i dont think i can be pissed unless we do something dumb with the pick in a trade. I'm not sold on mariotta, but if we took him id be excited. if we dont take him, there are like 5 guys id also be excited for....

Mariotta, Beasley, White, Cooper, Fowler, Williams. any of those guys and im fist pumping. if we stay put, other then taking gurley or something idiotic like that i dont think i can be disappointed.
