This is a very strong possibility and a lot of the fans don't seem to realize this yet........and if Mariota slides past #6 he could slide for a while...

In a vacuum, you can get the number 2 pick for Wilkerson, you do it. I don't see how anyone can say that's stupid. You make out on the deal. Sentiment is blocking people from thinking clearly. But soon, you'll have to pay market value for that Pro Bowl player. Note that I said in a vacuum. You don't want a reputation of not stepping up to the plate for your guys. But honestly, the only thing juvenile about this thread are the replies. The premise is actually a fairly solid one. I don't think Tennessee would or should take it though. I like Wilkerson as much as the next guy, but most Jet fans would expect to get a first round pick back in a trade for JJ Watt. There's no concept of reality outside of the Jets.

I disagree.. I think the idea of Wilkerson for Mariota is what some disagree with. Ths isnt a draft where there some gurantee elite talent that the jets absolutely must have and can't get.. We're picking 6 as is.. Not a great draft... The only reason why the jets would consider trading wilk is f they don't think they will be able to resign him and Richardson.. That's a concern I have. I want them both ofcpurse, I don't know if there is going to be money for both of them.

If we traded Wilk for the second pick I would take Leonard Williams and hope Mariota slides to 6.

Why would the Titans do that when they can just lock up Leonard Williams for the next 5 years on a relatively cheap rookie deal?

Mo is going to cost 9 M per at least, I would think.

Titans also need a QB so they could decide to pull the trigger on Mariota for themselves.

This makes zero sense and why would either team do it.

I hope they so pull the trigger and take Mariota. That would eliminate the Jets from the equasion and make fans happy. Then the Jets can concentrate on either getting an edge rusher, RB or stacking the wide receiver corp.

I hope you are wrong, but I think, unfortunately, you are right. I'll be one of the pissed off Jet fans. If he is there at 6, I hope they snag him. He isn't a sure thing, but having seen him play a lot I think he has a good chance to be decent on the NFL level. That being said I'd never consider for a second trading Wilkerson to get him.

I would only consider it if four conditions are met.

    1) Mo wants to be paid Suh money and our GM knows that we will not be able to re-sign him after this season (or next, depending on if we franchise him). At that point we can tentatively put him on the trading block, as much as that sucks to think about.
    2) We absolutely love Mariota and are more than positive he can be our franchise Qb and be it right now, or after a year at the latest.
    3) We are positive that Mariota will not be there at the 6th pick.
    and
    4) We love somebody else at the 6th pick who we want to pick in addition to a Qb. Maybe a WR or an OLB, for example.

If all those 4 conditions are met, I would be skeptical still but I would understand this move.

I would hate McCagnan if this trade happens.

First of all, no one is giving us a top 10 pick for Wilkerson, the $7 mil he is making now and the $14-15 mil he will want going forward. If we are lucky we would get a first rounder but a second rounder is more likely.

We could use him to trade up from 6 to 2 but if we are losing one of our better starters, combining that loss AND our first round pick on just one guy sounds crazy.

The only two guys that won't be there at #6 that could potentially be much, much better than the players available at 6 are Winston and Williams.

If you want to trade up to #2 to get Mariota for someone else in exchange for a Hershel Walker type trade, that might be worth doing.

If it looks like we won't be able to get a deal done with Mo, a more realistic trade would be the one I proposed in my mock offseason which was:

Browns need a 5 technique, have an extra pick, the cap space to extend him and Pettine was part of the group that drafted him.

I know he's a fan favorite of yours, but you guys really think he's better than he is. 2nd overrall pick? No one outside of NY knows or cares about Muhammad Wilkerson. Its just the truth.

He's frustratingly underrated because he's used in so many different ways. He doesn't get the pass rushing stats he's capable of because he's such a dominant run stuffer and the team needs him to play inside, but the casual fan doesn't give a fuck about a dominant run stuffer.
