Of my lifetime? Chrebet. Dude wasn't big by any means, but he played like the biggest badass on the field. He'd do whatever it took to catch the ball, sacrificing his body for his team. I was at his last game of his career and I knew when he got hit it was a career-ender. But it was still a first down.
Clearly you've never played WR in your life and had to run across the middle of the field only to get wrecked by a guy twice your size playing inside linebacker.
There are different meanings or interpretations for "tough." Some view people or players who are strong, rugged and can dish it out as "tough." Others view "tough" as players who take a licking and keep on ticking, who play through injury and pain. To call WRs "fu fu" shows once again how backwards you almost always see things. Did your mother drop you on your head when you were a baby? Seriously, dude, if you couldn't see how tough Al Toon and Wayne Chrebet were, you need to get your eyes examined or perhaps take up a different hobby other than football. You couldn't be more wrong.
I don't know if this makes me tough but I once listened to Metallica's St. Anger ALL THE WAY THROUGH with a friend. And I didn't take a screw driver and skewer my eardrums. That my friends is a type of tough that few people have the courage to possess.
Freeman McNeil played thru soooooo many injuries,,,Klecko played hurt,,,,,,gotta put Joe Willie up there he played with oceans of pain
I can't believe I forgot to mention Ken O'Brien. He was sacked like crazy but played through the pain at a pro bowl level. Sacked 353 times in his career with 62 sacks in season two (playoff appearance / pro bowl) and 50 times in season six (team went 4-12 / missed four starts due to injury).
