actually i was just speaking to a buddy of mine and he said that some of the areas around the lot were closed. Definitely check the map. I don't think they're big lots. I always park in the garage behind the stadium walls along the right field line if you can picture it. those aren't altered. I don't know about the other side.
Abreu got fired up after the tape of his wife fucking some dude in Brasil came out and was an absolute demon for a couple of months but it looks like that has worn off. Maybe the Yankees could arrange some sort of locker room gangbang and show him the tape to get him going again.
At least we can watch the draft on Saturday and not have to subject ourselves to the torture of watching Igawa pitching against Boston.
He's not anyway. Karstens is getting the ball. I can't believe no one is calling for Joe's head at this point. Even if you don't believe he is a piss-poor in-game manager, you have to start looking at his inability to get these guys motivated at this point. No one seems to give a damn. Fine, you can argue Abreu is just being himself, but what about everyone else? It seems like nobody has any motivation at all. And when the hell is someone going to sit Cano down and tell him to TAKE THE FIRST STRIKE??? He's going 0-2 consistently. That's a problem. Damon is struggling. Giambi gets an opposite field hit, and decides he's suddenly a track star. It's like everyone is playing like a damn zombie. Mental lapses are NOT a trademark of a "Torre team," yet that is exactly what we're seeing every night now. Screw the pitching, we know it's not good right now. At the same time, it's literally impossible to win when you score as many runs as we did last night. Something has to change, and there's only one thing right now that can be. Joe must go.
I'm calling for it. I am always calling for it. They are playing like the walking dead and Torre sits on the bench like a mummy. Every other manager in baseball is up, walking around, watching the game. Torre is in a constant stupor and has been for years. That dugout is like a morgue. And another thing, Matusaka hit both Arod and Jeter last week and we did nothing. I look for it to happen again this weekend and we will still do nothing. There is no spirit on this team at all and that is all on Torre.
Totally agreed. I knew something was wrong last night when an inning ended and they showed the dugout, and Carl Pavano was standing up on the dugout stairs, turned to Torre and practically yelled something at him, and Joe still just sat there. Joe, if Carla can get up, you should be able to. --------------------- And don't ever expect Torre to order a pitch to be thrown at anyone. It might hurt them...
The good news is I read an article yesterday and George is not at all happy. He didn't show up in Tampa Bay for the games this week because he was too embarrassed at having to explain why the Yankees were battling TB for last place. He is also upset with Cashman for deciding Pavano would be one of the 5 starters this year. (who may be gone for the year BTW. Pavano denies it but others are saying that might be the case) So, stand by..... I'de be willing to bet the farm that if we fall 10 games back this May like we did last May it won't go without a change like it did then. And another thought. If somebody does get hit again, the only people I think might charge the mound and go after the pitcher would be Mattingly and Larry Bowa. How sad is that.......
I think Hughes pitched fairly well for a debut, I am encouraged by waht I saw. I look forward to seeing him pitch again next week. Tonight is huge, we HAVE to win w/ Andy on the mound to get past last weekend. I think we need 2 of 3.
Agreed..anything less and we will be 7 or more back. Unlike Arod, the press has given Torre a free pass for the past few years. I am seriously thinking they are about to turn on him. If we get swept again I'm sure they will. If they do he will be gone within a week.
Torre has 4 Championships and 6 AL pennants to fall back on, what did ARod have to fall back on? Torre also hasn't been the main reason we have struggled in octoer the last few years. What did Joe do last nigth to lose the game? should he not have started Hughes?
I don't feel like getting into another Arod fight today. The only point I was making with that was that the Yankees have looked listless and uninspired for years. Even in the playoffs and it isn't all Arod. Torre has been given a pass on that. I have read one column this week where the writer said Torre stayed around 1 year too many. All I'm saying now is that I think they will turn on him if we get swept again. The injuries aren't his fault but the overall demeanor of the team is. If you look at that '98 team, the pitching was better but the positional players were probably not as good as what they have today but Tino, Strawberry, O'Neill and others played with a passion for the game. They didn't back down from anybody. It doesn't exist anymore and I fully blame Torre for that with his layed back comatose approach to every game of the year, whether it's the regular season or the playoffs.
That has more to do w/ the way the team has been built, they brought in hig priced established guys who are more stat guys than winners. "w/o hunger" they have still won the division every year and ha a great chance to win each series they have lost.
Ok, so who were the cheap players in 98? Everybody was just as high priced then as now although obviously salaries were lower in 98 then they are today. It's not the money it's the desire. This team has none and I will always blame Torre for that. Pretty soon you will hear he called his one and only "team meeting" of the year. Then he will put his sunglasses back on, sit his fat ass back down on the bench, and sleep away the rest of his year like he always does.
The team was nowhere near as high priced in '98 as it is today and we didn't have just a team full of stars- we had great role players. O'Neill wasn't a star, Brosious wasn't a star, ledee/Spencer weren't stars, Girardi and Posada weren't stars. basically the only real star we had that year were jeter, Mariano and Bernie. The last few years we've had ARod, Giambi, Jeter, Sheff, Abreu, Damon, Bernie, Matsui, Posada, Johnson, Mariano, ... It has been a completely different team, it wasn't built well.
Do you want him to kick the gatorade bucket? ask his 3B coach how effective that style is. Joe has a clam leadership which has always helpe the yankees in stressful times, w/ another Mgr I don't think we have 4 Championships since '96 and I think we do't make the playoffs at least once or twice the last couple of years. W/ that said we are not satisfied making the playoffs and I would have been ok w/ Joe leaving after last year. he's been here a long time but it is clearly not his fault why we haven't won, he shares the blame w/ the players.
