RobA is the only one that would seriously go overboard. 90% of the board puts us in the right slot between 6 and 9 wins because we have a very light schedule this year with the Titans, Bills twice, Jags (with an aging Fred Taylor, the loss of an all-pro WR, and a failure to fill defensive needs such as OLB is scary to me), Lions, Texans, Packers, and Raiders. Those are 8 very winnable games and I see us winning 6 of those and then pulling off 1 upset in our other 8 games. This puts us at 7-9 which is probably the average around the board. And with Raiderjoe calling them the deepest team in the league by far it implies that this team is atleast a playoff team this year and a SB contender next year at worst. In reality, the Raiders and Jets are screwed and depleted right now and both have major QB and defensive problems. I do have a question though - why the hell are you two hanging out on a Jets board? :jets: I think we have a few closet fans.
Funny how we talk about the CURRENT Raiders, yet you want to relive the glory days when Auntie Al was only on his 312th set of jogging suits.
It has to be some sort of flaw. I mean, just the sight of a Raiders or Dolphins message board would make me queasy. How these Raiders and Dolphins fans continue to post here is beyond me.
OK, so we've established that the Jets have had a major Super Bowl dry spell. In what way does that have anything to do with the topic at hand? About the Raiders sucking. I love how opposing fans, when proven wrong, quickly point out our lack of Super Bowl appearances, as if that has some type of significance to what's being discussed. :breakdance:
The current Raiders are 4-12, the current Jets are 4-12. In this decade the Raiders have won their division three times, been to two championship games and one Super Bowl. The Jets haven't done any of those things in the current decade. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting miracles this year, but I am expecting improvement. I just can't stand by while the kid with glasses calls me "four eyes"!
Which one was it- after Gruden left or right after the superbowl blowout loss, the Raiders imploded. Right after gruden left, Callahan tweak Gruden offense,(went with three WRS) and they had best offense in all of football in 2002. Went to the Superbowl. So I guess you meant after the superbowl blowout loss. Like I said , Raiders made their run. Three straight AFC West divisons titles, 2 AFC Championships, and 1 superbowl appearance. (Probably would have been another superbowl appearance, if not for Tuck game) Their roster and core just got old. Happens eventually to all the winning teams. Case IN Point , when Gruden took over raiders it was three straight 8-8 seasons before they became creme of the AFC West. Raiders have been down last three years, but soon will be where they belong. Creme of the AFC. ITs coming.
Funny....We could care less what you think too, but you keep spouting your opinions like you are approaching Sainthood. hmy:
Well, maybe you NEED some glasses. No, the Jets have not won the AFC West in this decade..but in 2002 the Jets did win the AFC east. You will sound a wee bit smarter if you get ALL the facts straight. Also, if you look at the past 10 years. The Jets have been to the playoffs 4 times..The Raiders just 3. So, you see numbers can be manipulated to give any result you desire.
You don't understand the whole "people in glass houses" thing? Simple concept! Until the Jets get King Kong off their back and at least GO to a Super Bowl, you don't have a lot of room to talk about how everyone else sucks, especially coming off 4-12!
My facts on the Raiders are right: AFC west champs in '00, '01, and '02. Championship games in '00 and '02. Super Bowl appearance in '02.
Wow, Who knew backups could get 1500+ Total yds, Over 1000yds on the ground, 11 TD's and all behind a Horrific O-line!! I wish our Back-ups ...shit, Our Starters did that...
That's true. The result I desire is to show that this phenomena of Jet fans acting like the Raiders are some kind of joke is a little ridiculous when you look at the Jets; that's all.
I wasn't even paying too much attention to the fact there are two Raiders fans posting here. Please, one of you get an avatar, so we can tell you apart quicker. I suggest one of you get an avatar of Bobby "I Led the Raiders in Rushing in the 2000 AFC Championship Game" Hoying. An avatar of Tony Siragusa flattening Rich Gannon would be good, too.
The point that was being made was not how bad the Jets have been, but when a team that had alot of sucess- Raiders (were one of the top teams in AFC) went as far as they could with their core players.(they got old) Eventually you have to rebuild. Happens with every good team. When your going with very young inexperience players(turnover the roster age wise), is it a supprise what raiders record has been last three years. Raiders have gone through the phase the Jets are going through now. Going with inexperience players, while learning a new schemes. That reason alone, anyone that thinks jets are winning more than 7 games next season, are fooling themselves.
The Raiders fell off big time after the Super Bowl and in this day and age to be an embarrassment for three straight seasons is inexcusable. It should not take more than 2 years to rebuild.
