I would rather trade Williamson than Lee. Lee is the only inside LB who has good coverage skills. I dont see how we play Mosley and Williamson at the same time. Lee might not be a better overall player but in a passing league Leee is a much more valuable player than Williamson. I suspect their disatisfaction with Lee is less about his play and more about his character or attitude. Or possibly Greg Williams dislike of soft players.
Right now the make up of the D is going to make it tough to run but a quick passing game will shread us.
Well stopings the run will be nice, just gotta do something about those backs catching the ball .........
Ogbah was just traded to the Chiefs. Off-season programs started today for new coaches right? Did Lee show up?
Jets don’t start their offseason program until the 8th. Jets opted to wait an extra week so they didn’t have a break in the middle.
Yes, I am hoping Williams will make a huge difference to this defence, on the ground and defending the pass, something we failed to do countless times when it mattered last 3 years or so.
Really need to upgrade the CB position. , Williams is very aggressive, but that can lead to big plays if your corners are suspect. We're heading in the right direction though
FYI, Duke Johnson is going to get traded or released. skipped OTA's and doens't see a future in Cleveland with chubb and hunt in front of him. 25 years old, good receiving back. only cost 2.3 mil this season and is signed for 2020 (4.1 mil) and 2021 (5.15 mil) we could rework it but if we could swing a 7th rounder for him. i'd gladly take on his 2.3mil salary to let him backup bell this year since we don't want to overuse bell and some here are concerned about maguire and cannon as backups. he also returned punts in 2016 and plays special teams
Let’s not get all too giddy about Williams turning the Jets into the NY Sack Exchange days or Steel Curtain. While Williams is known for aggressive defensive schemes and blitzes, he only had few top 10 defensive teams during as a DC. We still have some holes defensively particularly CBs. Will we create more sacks or pressures? Probably? Will we create more TOs? Probably. But let’s see if we can avoid giving up big plays.
Duke Johnson would be an awesome backup/role player. My guess is he wants to go somewhere where he can compete for 10-15 touches a game though.
from the sounds of it, that would be here. The jets aren't going to "bell cow" bell and will liklly hold him to around 60% of the carries compared to the 90+% pitt was running him. also 2 back sets and all since we are short at WR. I'm sure gase could work him in the offense and 7th round picks are pretty much useless anyway
this came out last night. looks like we are interested Duke Johnson’s reps have asked the Browns to trade him, a league source told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Jets, Texans and Eagles have all been interested in Johnson ever since the Browns signed running back Kareem Hunt in February, a league source said. Other teams have inquired as well. In what appears to be a statement about not wanting to be here, Johnson was a no-show for the Browns’ voluntary offseason program Monday, coach Freddie Kitchens said. Kitchens said he didn’t know if it was in response to the Browns signing Hunt and all the trade rumors swirling around Johnson. "It’s what he chose to do,'' said Kitchens. "It’s all voluntary.'' Johnson joined Emmanuel Ogbah as two veteran players who chose not to attend, and Ogbah was subsequently traded to the Chiefs for safety 2016 fourth-round safety Eric Murray on Monday afternoon.
Interesting. I guess Johnson wants to at least have a chance to start somewhere. He knows he has little or no chance with the Browns with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt ahead of him on the depth chart. If that is the case, I don't know why he'd want to come to the Jets. He would definitely sit behind Bell. The Texans have Lamar Miller, D'Onta Foreman and a RB or two I've never heard of. The Eagles have Jordan Howard, Corey Clement, and Wendell Smallwood. The Eagles were in the SB just a couple of years ago. It looks like he'd have his best chances of starting or seeing more playing time with either the Eagles or Texans.
he doens't get a say in it as he's under contract for 3 more years. browns will sell to the highest bidder. nobody is going to start duke. he's a back-up RB but a good one at that. here he would be competing with maguire and cannon for carries. the eagles are pretty set at RB actually with howard now. texans make sense. miller isn't getting any younger but they do bell cow him.
