Remember Wesley Johnson? He may be serious, but should still draft a center, regardless of whether they sign one.
I will be very surprised if a center isn’t drafted with one of the third round picks . And that center will be the starter opening day .
Sure, lets shitcan the GM mere weeks before the draft. I'm sure there are a multitude of Jet personnel who could step right in. Anyone seen Neil Glat around the office? 13
NJCetsfan fires him every 5 posts or so and all for a variety of different reasons, even ones he makes up himself
Gase said today this isnt 1973 football when the center used to have to go one on one with a 350 lb NT. He said the center in his system us gonna be sliding left and right helping the guards ( exactly what Ive been saying mind you). He said he likes Harrison. Hes the starter guys. And we're fine
Yeah but I still think they’re drafting a center . As of now I’m thinking EDGE, center, another RB, probably a CB and maybe a WR somewhere . If they’re gonna make do with what they have it will probably be at CB since Mac seems to like Roberts and Derrick Jones. Plus if the pass rush picks up that lessens the pressure on the secondary . But I’m expecting those positions to be addressed as of this moment...
I'm opposed to forcing the drafting of a center in place of a Guard or tackle or even a skill on offense..but what he's describing is Bradbury to a T. Very good laterally & sliding.
This. Drafting strictly based on need is just as bad of a strategy as drafting strictly based on BPA. Talent, need, system fit, etc... should all be taken into consideration when making a pick. That said, I am curious as to whether Harrison can be at least a competent C over a full season. If Bradbury is the type of C who fits Gase's system, then I'm all for taking him.
I'll have agree to disagree with you here, my friend. I think Harrison starting will be a disaster for Sam and the Jets' offense. We need a starting C much more than we need a backup OG or even OT. We definitely need a backup LT, but not at the expense of a starting-caliber C.
While, I totally agree that "drafting strictly based on need is just as bad of a strategy as drafting strictly based on BPA," Mac painted himself into a corner. I think Harrison starting will be a disaster. IMO Mac should have already signed John Sullivan so the Jets aren't forced to take a C, and I believe that they are until Harrison proves me wrong. I think not signing Justin Houston or Shaq Barrett is just as big a mistake.
they switched to a 4-3 last season after 2 seasons in a 4-3. he had 9.5 sacks prior to this past season. I'm not saying he's a stud..but he's a decent pass rusher who can bend the edge & is still young.
Yes, I think it would be a good move since Darren Lee seems to fit a 4-3 better and Ogbah seem to fit a 3-4 better. It's a mutually beneficial trade if it happens.
I think he has upside to perhaps be a 6-8 sacks per year type player in a 3-4..again if he stays healthy. My concern would be he's more of a strong side OLB just like Jenkins.
Don't really see the trade making sense for the Jets. At least Lee has some upside vs the pass. Ogbah would be a bench player at best behind Jenkins. And who knows what happens in the draft. Would rather see Lee packaged with a pick to move up . Or at least for a player who is above avg.
I guess the only benefit to Ogbah over Lee is that it is important to have a rotation of pass rushers.
