I think he could be effective if you brought him in to just be a pass rusher off the edge. It might help him to finish his career just focused on that instead of playing all four downs
Maybe they are focused on the top 100 players. Maybe he is deciding if he'll play. Guys like Matthews who played their whole careers with a team take time to decide and he can have that time. Probably wants to weight his options and going on free agent tours doesn't interest him. Probably doesn't want to uproot his family etc. I think he resigns with the Packers on a one year deal or retires. He only had 3.5 sacks last year so lost a step or two.
Now with their updates, ESPN has Matthews ranked as no. 8 ranked player still available in F.A. (previously 49th). They mention he has lost a step but also that his low sack numbers could be attributed to the packers moving him inside quite a bit the last couple seasons
It can be coached a little, but yes for the most part you are either good at it or not. I’d rather see cannon on Kick returns and Crowder for punts
I honestly think we already have a plan for this, Josh Allen. Anthony Barr was going to be that guy. Someone who can primarily rush off the edge. With him leaving, I think we may be sitting put at number 3 and drafting Josh Allen, who arguably is a better option than Barr.
OG Josh Kline has just been released by the Titans, worth a look? I know we need a C more than anything but would he be an upgrade over Winters?
Probably not. Winters is a solid guard when he can stay on the field. Sitton would likely be a better depth option than Kline because he's simply a better player and has some versatility.
Putting this here because it’s the best fit and doesn’t need its own thread Safeties are all filled up.
Not sure if it's completely accurate, but Over The Cap has updated numbers after all the signings and still has the Jets at $52 million in available cap space...... I'd be interested in signing Justin Houston on a 1 year deal and looking into Cory Liuget on a one year incentive laden deal.....
Have to account about $9 mil for the draft class, but that’s still a load of cash. I wonder if they are waiting to see how the Lawrence and Clowney situations pan out hoping that one of them will break free. Either way I would rather make a move on Houston
Ive been saying for many years(along w a few others) that Winters has a really good skill set for a Center. That said who knows if he can snap w any consistency & i highly doubt the jets ask him to switch positions
@88toon they haven't accounted for Anderson and Roberts which add up to around 36 mil left give or take ... yes still a good amount ! what are your guys thoughts on X niner Cassius Marsh (only 26) who was cut after the trade for Dee Ford.
