I think Howard is a little better then what people give him credit for. Beating the Steelers by yourself is quite a feat
Maybe, but going off one game is like saying Crowell is a great RB because of that monster game he had. I'm not saying Howard is chopped liver, but I can see the Jets getting him and then passing on much better talent in FA or the draft because of that. No thanks.
Eh, Crow has never rushed for 1000 yards ever. Howard can carry the run game, he's not a great catcher out of the back-field but he's decent. He had 50 catches in his rookie year so it's not like he has stone hands. For a 6th round pick and significant less cash, I wouldn't mind the acquisition.
I doubt any gm would make a deal like this before free agency slowed down and the top targets are off the market. After that, flipping a 6th rd for him should really affect the big board.
I think this is a dream but would be great if we could do it. What if the Jets signed both Paradis and Morse. Morse was a guard coming out. Maybe he'd be willing to go back to guard. Paradis at Center, Morse at guard. Trade back and draft Jonah Williams. He then could push Winters, Shell or Beachum and whoever he beats out could be the swing guard or tackle. I think this is a dream but would secure the oline for two to three years while on Darnold's rookie deal and allow us to draft some linemen this year and next year to develop. If not Morse and Paradis then Saffold and Morse and Paradis for a few years to secure the line. 12 days away. Can't wait to see how the offense looks.
Combine morning roundup rumors: 1. Dolphins favorite to land Trey Flowers. No surprise there. Flores was his DC with the Patriots. Things could change but had a feeling Detriot and Miami might push for him. Our only advantage over the Dolphins is they are in tank mode so he might want to play for someone who is on the up but money talk also. 2. Ravens might be in on Le'von Bell: Many Bell rumors and where he might go. I think money wise we'll beat anyone. I think if Bell goes to the Ravens it'd be to stick it to the Steelers twice a year and to go to a team that wins. Bell seems to be a guy all about the money but if we are wrong with that the rumors of the Colts, Ravens and Texans being interested could be an issue for us. Those are the two free agent rumors this am that affect us. I know people are sayign that we need Bell, Paradis and Flowers for it to be a successful free agency. I agree. All three would be great additions and really help us. That being said the season isn't won in March and typically the guys that go in the first two days are disappointments. Realistically looking at it a successful March would be two starters on the line. We can go into the season knowing we have a good line and they just need to gel to be dominant. It would be nice to upgrade at rb through free agency. Bell the crown jewel but happy with Tevin Coleman or worse case a trade for Jordan Howard. A third receiving option in the likes of Adam Humphries, Jamison Crowder or Tyrell Williams and help along the defensive line and cornerback position. Don't overreact to the first few days of free agency see what we do a week or two into it to react. Remeber championships aren't won in March and teams aren't finalized then too.
Slot corner that might be a bit pricey. Depends on what we do opposite Trumaine. I know Claiborne was a punching bag around here but the facts are he had a very solid season by the numbers and would be a great number to cornerback as long as Johnson can stay healthy and return the form under Williams. He would be my first priority unless someone else is offering him above market value. I honestly only say that because I don’t trust that the Jets would actually use Callahan in the role he should be playing. Although I trust Williams a whole lot more than I’ve trusted anyone we tried it out there the last few years.
Secondary older d linemen Brandon Graham resigns with the Eagles. Three year deal. Thought he would be a consideration for us after the first wave of free agency if we didn't sign Flowers or one of the other top edge rushers.
Olivier Vernon getting cut. Giants will try to trade him but with a $19 million cap hit who would take him. If he's cut loose, does they guy want to uproot and move out of the area? I'd sign him to a reasonable deal.
Need slot corners in today's league. Ravens recently paid their slot corner decent money. Hopefully we bring Mo back too then we have 3 good corners. It will be a very expensive position next year, but the Jets have the money while Darnold is a rookie.
He's been a massive letdown in comparison to what people thought he'd be when he signed three years ago. Decent sack numbers but anyone with 8 sacks looks good to us... either way, if he'd come at a discount because he doesn't want to uproot then sure. I wouldn't give him top-tier money though, DEFINITELY not top 3 money which is what he's making now. I'd put him closer to Ansah than Lawrence.
Don't disagree at all, I just don't want to lose out on a legit starter next to Johnson because we chased and paid a slot guy. If we can bring in all three, then great. I hope that's the case.
Yeah not breaking the bank for him but if he wants to take a reasonable deal so he doesn't have to move?
No thanks for Howard, unless he only cost us a 5th or 6th. We need someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Out of the 3 Head Cases>>> OBJ Ant B and Bell. Ring a ding makes the most sense to at least float an Offer due to his run/pass abilities. As Ive posted before, Bell wont get his asking price. The Steelers were at the right number and he will have to settle for 12/13 mil per. If the Jets add incentives it may perk his interest and ensure he doesn't loaf around when he gets here. I wish we knew what offers other teams are making for him After Trumain Johnson ..time to make some some boom or bust deals for our Offense imo
I don't want Morris Claiborne back. He hurts more than he helps with all the penalties. Idk why he holds so much, maybe he is washed up and its the only way he can stay with the reciever? maybe he has a target on his back now with the officials and they are just watching him extra close? I have no idea, but his penalties kill this team
Ansah should be good but he is a disappointment and so frustrating! He'll have 2 weeks in a row with 3 sacks or something and then he will disappear for 8 weeks. You will be furious and lighting your pitchforks after those 8 weeks and he will come out with a 2 sack game.... only to disappear again after for the rest of the year
