He’s a pro wide receiver. Wouldn’t mind this move at all. Not every signing is going to be a pro bowl caliber player. Chances are we are not making a big splash at wr

With the combine rumors are starting to come out. Here are two today from Mehta.

    1. Jets are interested in Dante Moncrief: I've always liked him when he was with the Colts. He did well with Jacksonville last year. I think he'd be a nice addition. Maybe he'd be comprable the Dolphins used Albert Wilson last year. I can support that. Moncrief is a professional receiver. If we can't get a top guy he'd be a nice compliment Anderon and Enuwa.

    2. Jets are talking to Henry Anderson's agent to bring him back: Somewhat surprised by this. Guess the report of us sticking with the 3-4 might be true if we resign him. I'd like to have him back. He's a high motor guy that gets results. I think Bowles in Tampa might like to bring him there. I think we have more money to offer. Be interesting to see if we can resign him before he is a free agent.

He's going to make at least $5 mil if he made $7 mil this year, most likely more. If you take away that outlier second year with Luck, he's averaging 2.5 catches per game for 34 yards per game. I mean you can find that in a guy off the street for millions less. It would be a very bad investment unless they get him for dirt cheap.

Not to be that guy, but there's an entire thread about free agents already and we're discussing both in it.

Didn't see it in the top 5 free agents. Sorry about that. We can merge.

Top roster fillers for the Jets. Not top guys but guys who can come in start and contribute to this team. Guys I'm not including (Paradis, Flowers, Bell, etc).

    1. Anthony Barr: Hearing he wasn't used right in Minnesota. Could add as a pass rusher and won't break the bank.

    2. Adam Humphries: Love him for our slot with Anderson and Enuwa. More so than Moncrief.

    3. Pierre Dasir: People like Darby more. I like Dasir. Think he'd compliment Johnsons nicely.

If I see or think of someone else I'll add but a good start to the top fillers.

Moncrief is a decent player. He would not be a bad signing, I prefer Golden Tate myself but I understand if they chose Moncrief instead

And cornerback - yet again- is still a pretty big need SMH. Yeah, I could see them going after a guy like Desir. I agree on passing on Darby, Darby has all the physical tools but he is not a smart player! And, coming off the ACL injury, his physical tools might not be what they used to be anyway

If he is what you say then why do you think he is going to make more than you want to pay him?

Because that's the way it works. Was Trumaine Johnson worth what we paid him to every other team in the NFL? Probably not.

I'd like both Moncrief and Anderson.
Solid role players, shouldn't cost too much.

    I'd love to sign Tate.
Could replace Kearse, and I agree would be more impactful than Moncrief.

He is not a JAG. You really need to start watching the game of football instead of blindly reading stats and twitter.

Moncriefs second year, that you cite as good, has been the only year he was healthy with a decent quarterback. 2016 he missed half the season, 2017 he played with Jacoby Brisett, 2018 with whatever shitbag QBs Jax played - even worse than Brissett.

He is a decent young receiver with good hands AND considering the above, he will come as a bargain

Comparing contracts of the top player in his position entering free agency to what moncrief is isn’t being quite honest.
Quick look at his stats and I don’t think 48 catches for 13.5 yd/rec with the trash qbs the jags rolled out last year is all that bad.
I like Williams as the top wr target but wouldn’t say no to moncrief. He can play,

Classic you. On your high horse, shooting down any valid criticism of someone you like because you like them and that means more than anything.

I know you hate stats (read as: facts), but for a guy that has good hands, he sure doesn't catch a lot of his targets. His catch rate went down yearly, spiked (to a whopping 55%) two years ago, then back down to an almost career low of 53%. And for reference, Dede Westbrook who played with the same shitbag Jax QBs last year, posted more receptions, yards and TDs on only 12 more targets, giving him a catch rate of 65%.

And since playing with Brissett is used as an excuse... he was outplayed by Chester Rogers who played one less game, had only 3 less receptions despite 10 less targets (catch rate of 62%) and put up 1 TD, sadly only one less than Moncrief. If you want to say that Moncrief was used differently so that's why his numbers aren't sexy, then sure, but don't blame the QB when other players seemed to have less issues catching the ball and making plays.

He's a JAG, and if he were to come at a JAG price then I'd gladly have him although I'd still much prefer just giving all that time to Burnett. I just don't think he's going to come at a JAG price.

Who else do you compare Moncrief to in this FA class?

Moncrief for the right price I'd like him. I prefer Humphries to him but I'm good with Moncrief too.

Anderson I would love back. If we switch to a 4-3 then probably not but in a 3-4 or modified he's a great dend who could help. Like you said neither should cost much.

I get the Jets have many needs and they have to fill it through free agency but I like cheaper players with upside over expansive players.

At best he is below Tate and Humphries, maybe below Williams too. Certainly not a former pro bowl top of his position free agent.

All those guys are projected to command around $10 mil a year. Do you think he'll come at $5 mil? That's still to high for a guy that doesn't produce all that much.

I think he will come for about 7.5. A little less than the 1 year deal he took with the jags but I think he is a lot better than the trash you're making him out to be.

Moncreif would be the type of signing smart teams make. Having said that, I fully expect him to play for someone else other than the Jets next year ha
