Florio is a penis but here it is anyways hopefully it is true

Tony Richardson could rejoin Jets as soon as today

Jets fans could have multiple reasons to be happy today, one week before the team opens the stadium it will share with the Giants.

Apart from the return of Darrelle Revis, the Jets are expected to bring back fullback Tony Richardson.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Richardson could be re-signing as soon as this afternoon. (Actually, the source says that Richardson "should be" returning on Monday.)

We're in the process of figuring out why the Jets would need to cut Richardson for one day -- and why G.M. Mike Tannenbaum's comments about Richardson's release carried a strong whiff of finality: "Each season, there are difficult choices when constructing the 53-man roster and this year is no exception. We appreciate Tony's contributions and leadership over the past two seasons and have nothing but the highest respect for him as a person and as a player."

Many believed that the Jets were simply trying to avoid having to essentially guarantee Richardson's base salary of $855,000 by cutting him before Week One and bringing him back immediately thereafter. The truth simply could be that with an influx of three new players via waivers on Sunday the Jets had to scramble to decide which player(s) to cut. Any players with fewer than four years of service would have been subject to waivers. Since Richardson is a vested veteran, he became a free agent. Though other teams may have tried to sign him, no one had the ability to "claim" him against his will.

Our guess (and it's just a guess) is that the Jets opted not to cut one of their cornerbacks before finalizing the Revis agreement -- and that one of the six cornerbacks will be getting the heave-ho today so that Richardson can be re-signed. Look for the Jets to get a short-term roster exemption for Revis, so that they can figure out in the next day or so who else needs to go so before activating Revis in time for Monday night.

remember last month Richardson said he has never seen a holdout affect a team negatively? Ironic

I wonder of the Jets and Trich had a gentleman's agreement in place.

I still can't believe the Jets cut him - all cause they didn't want to guarantee 50K. Good lord...

Im still pretty bummed, I doubt he agrees to go onto the practice squad. I understand its part of the business but I still wish he stayed. I have nothing but respect for T-Rich and unless he goes to a AFC east team I wish him all the best

What are you talking about? He'll be back today. And even if it were after game 1, it wasn't just about 50K.

I thought someone was going to have to pull Cimini off the noose there for a minute. Every article....."the Jets are in trouble". So depressing. Yet I still read them.

Doesn't he talk to people in the organization? Maybe he was given the Fatcessa treatment, too much negative spin without actual facts result in the silent treatment.

I know its a crazy left-field theory, but I wonder if the conversation that convinced revis included talking about leadership and responsibility, with tony richardson and his willingness to be cut in order to help facilitate a better team (hopefully only short term) as an example.

I for one really hope he is re-signed, even with what looks like a young stud in john conner, I really would love T-Rich to finish his playing career here and become the running back coach, imagine how many years we could confidently look at drafting cheap lightning in a bottle at the position for T-Rich to mold into a real NFL player.

Cimini hasn't had an inside source since Herm left which means he's probably been blackballed. Maybe he knew about the KC-tampering before NY did, and he played the loyalty card to Herm instead of the organization?
And ESPN was a clear demotion from the Daily News - he used to be The Guy in NY, and now he's just a random voice amongst a slew of random voices. No one outside of NY who watches ESPN even acknowledges/recognizes his name. If he was a big deal, he'd still be The Guy at the Daily News and a star journalist (Cowlishaw, Adande, etc.) on ESPN.
Find one story Cimini has broke since Herm departed - they don't exist! He simply gives a spin on someone else's story every time - that's all he does.
TGG gets the info to us faster.

"According to an internet report" is what I wish I could have submitted on any research paper I ever did in college (if the internet existed beyond AOL chat/Prodigy back then).
Based on his sources, many of us should be getting credit for anything newsworthy (or not) that gets spewed out there.

Here's a story for Rich: Captain Sully's going to land a Harrier jet on top of Joe Flacco during pregame warm-ups and unload his full armament on the Ravens' defensive line.
Now, if he was reading that on twitter...it might actually get printed, because THAT's an internet report.

He's such a joke. He tweeted that a source told him Revis landed in NJ. Hmm could his source have been Revis himself tweeting to EVERYONE that he landed in NJ 16 minutes prior to Cimini's tweet?

Lol don't forget Cimini was also behind Jenny Vrentas too.

BTW what happened to the other "well respected" Jets beat writer, Canolizaro?
