Tomlinson: It seems as though you guys have been low-balling me from the beginning. Childress: We just wanted to get you conditioned for when Favre's recurring ankle and groin injuries cause him to pitch all of the passes intended for you into the dirt.
(without reading the entire thread) TJ had too much pride to come back to us and play for similar money KC offered. If Jets offered like a 2 yr $7-8 mil contract, only then he would have returned...and that destroyed the whole purpose of releasing him and saving money. Jets would have paid $5 mil in 2 yrs without a second thought but TJ had too much pride, not that one can blame him.
I would take LT. Greene and Washington are going to get the majority of the carries either way, but having LT for depth and goal line situations isn't a bad thing. You can never have enough backs as a run first team.
I wouldn't be surprised if he decides not to sign a contract with the Jets either tonight or tomorrow. He probably still wants to/has to talk it over with his wife but Tannenbaum and Ryan are going to be giving him a lot to think about.
At this point, if it comes down to Minny vs. NYJ, I think the Jets would be the heavy favorites for LT. Actually, I'd be pretty surprised if he wasn't a Jet in the next 48 hours. They're both franchises that are clear title contenders (which will obviously lean towards the Jets if Favre re-re-retires). Tomlinson will get far more opportunities here, and will likely think he has a legit shot at starting, or at least getting more than half the touches.
Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday LT isn't going to sign with us because the weather sucked in NYC today and he's used to San Diego where it's always nice and he can get warm bj's on the beach - adam schefter
and i keep saying wait and see.... if he is even on the team. i keep arguing to you that he is going to be worthless compared to tomlinson...if they both played behind our line. if he is so much more healthy than tomlinson, and such a great back, the front office would hurry to keep him now wouldnt they. he is almost out the door for a reason.....hummmmm...i wonder what it is? i know what it is....its because abyzmul thinks that his injuries are minor compared to tomlinsons. i did not know that you were an "all correcting", "website bone specialist", which you are not. you were obviously defending leon, or are you always ready to offer your "fine medical expert opinion?" thats how i took it...you defending leon....whether you admit it or not is another question. the way i see it, you either think that you are a know it all (including the medical field), or you are denying that you were defending your man love for leon? if tomlinsons injuries are far greater than leons, why in the hell is our football team shopping leon, while courting LT genius?
LaDainian Tomlinson-RB-Chargers Mar. 12 - 6:36 pm et Profootballtalk.com has "caught wind of a rumor" that free agent LaDainian Tomlinson will sign with the Jets. PFT's Mike Florio cautions that this is not a report, but Tomlinson's visit to New York has been extended into Saturday. With the Jets, Tomlinson could battle Shonn Greene for goal-line duties and serve as third-down help in the event Leon Washington (compound leg fracture) isn't ready for opening day. Source: Profootballtalk on NBC Sports www.rotoworld.com Looks like LT might be signing with us after all. Hopefully this is true cause I think he would make a great backup to Shonn. I guess we should hear more through the night on this situation now.
Mr. E, is this your opinion or a fact? From what Ive heard, TJ would have cost much more than what KC offered since he had too much pride to come back unless the money difference was significant.
It's a fact. It was reported the day after he signed with Kansas City. Per rotoworld: It's also a fact that the Chiefs will suck complete balls even with the addition of Thomas Jones.
all they are basing this on is the fact that he is staying over because there are no west coast trips this late not because he is going to sign. dumb rumors.
Please tell me that your only source isn't the Rotoworld report that links to a PFT article that has since been pulled.
