LT will be an upgrade on TJ purely because despite his dwindling stats he still commands respect when lined up in the backfield. Teams will over commit giving us the option for Play action and screen plays,.
LT can catch out of the backfield. TJ can't. LT and TJ at this point in their careers are pretty much the same guy after that one aspect. LT also sells more than TJ. TJ is 32 to LTs 31. He's more versatile. Its that simple.
Didn't TJ have some trouble with his knee's at the end of season? Maybe our doctors thought his knees were to bad to continue to carry the load, so we decided to cut the ties with him. If they thought TJ could produce like he did last year, we would not have let him go. But I think he is done, and he WILL be exposed in KC
I'm starting to wonder about the validity of that Rotoworld blurb. I mean, they cite PFT as a source. Florio's reporting on Jets matters does not have the most responsible of reputations. BTW, the article that Rotoworld links as a source on PFT is a dead link now - PFT pulled the article.
Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday Yep. I posted this in another thread, but one thing that frustrated me about the idea of bringing TJ back was that he seemed to require heavy carries to get his YPC, and yet he really can't handle that many carries any more. He tended to heat up in the 2nd half, which is where 10 of his 14 TDs came as well. Whether he could be successful late in games without those early carries is a tough question, but I'd have been willing to give it a shot at that reduced rate.
Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday Oh right. It was a TWO year. Fuck you for bringing him up, then
My fucking stomach dropped to my colon when I opened the last page of this thread and that asshole's picture was the first thing I saw. MBGreen, u scared the fucking bejesus out of me cause I honestly thought for a minute that jackass was back. Oh man, what a scare.
Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday Winfield essentially pulled a last second move to sign with the Vikings instead of us.
Me too. Here's the thing. If everyone thinks back to the end of the ride, Sanchez was talking in his press conference about "some guys" who wouldn't be back. I thought it then, and I still do now, he was talking about Jones. He knew the Jets would demand he surrender his bonus and he knew TJ would say "No." Jones wasn't coming back to the Jets 1) because the Jets weren't going to give him a bonus for shitting the bed in Indianapolis and 2) because Jones wasn't going to ignore the fact that he was at the top of the league in rushing. LT's the more talented player anyway. As has been said, give Tomlinson the same line Jones ran behind and add a bunch of yards and a few TDs to his totals from last year.
Re: Source: LT to visit Jets on Friday I wonder who he'd be after this year if he were still on the board. My guess is he'd be telling everyone we should trade up for "BJ Stiller" or stay put and draft "Culden Taint".
