Now I really don't get this at all LT Vs TJ (sorry another LT thread) I still think that TJ would have had an effective role within a 3 HB system, and I'm not taking anything away from LT, but out of the 2 I would prefer to have kept TJ and a bit of that is 'better the devil you know'. The FO bitched about wage demands and then come out with this? http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=561&ft=169748 Can't wait to find out the real reason why this has happened.
If we had LT on our team last season with our line... add a few more hundred yards and a couple more TD's
Re: Now I really don't get this at all LT Vs TJ I know this has been discussed in the LT AND TJ threads, but...it's over with. We don't know why they didn't match KC's offer for TJ, but they didn't. Time to move on.
Clearly, the coaching staff — who watched Jones every single day att he end of last season — thought he was done. Sure, Tomlinson can't start anymore, but if the Jets think he's better fitted to a partial role, I wouldn't really be able to disagree. He's definitely a much better receiver.
it's draft time, bud....time to pay homage to the greatest Draft Guru to ever grace TGG. EDIT - no disrespect to WW85, GH, or Eletric of course.
i have two possible conclusions for this. 1. the jets simply don't think TJ can get it done anymore and they like what they have seen from LT in their scouting of him. 2. there is same behind the scenes issue the jets have with TJ that we are unaware of. taking this situation at face value it seems like the jets are off their rocker on this one, but the front office has proven to be very competent over the last few years when it comes to personnel.
tj refused to restructure his contract with us, so he was let go ... im pretty sure we made him, at least, as good an offer as he received from kc
Willie Parker is shot and has been injured far more frequently than LT over a much shorter playing career. Parker cannot run at all anymore. While no one disputes that LT is not the player he once was, he may not have lost as much as some are inclined to believe. The Chargers O-Line does not appear to run block NEARLY as efficiently as they did in past years as the offense has become much more pass oriented since the arrival of Rivers. People focus on LT's 3.3 YPC average this past season and rush to place the blame on LT's sagging shoulders and wobbly wheels but the fact is that Sproles only managed 3.7 YPC as a change of pace back running behind the same crappy run blocking line. I did not watch that many Chargers games last year but in the games I did watch, it was a common accurance for Tomlinson having to deal with defensive penetration into the backfield as opposed to consistently having nice holes or cut back lanes to run through which our line could provide for him on a more reliable and consistent basis. Its no coincidence that the teams he has visited with thus far all have strong run blocking O-lines. I was so frustrated with TJ last year because while his overall YPC average was OK his actual net YPC on a carry by carry basis was shit. I remember so many games where prior to busting one or two long runs, his low YPC average killed countless drives and put unnecessary pressure on our rookie QB. TJ still had decent long speed but he takes too long and needs too many steps to reach his top gear. I am guessing that even at his current diminished level of ability that he has more to offer on (and off) the field than TJ and the FO's current offer seems to be a good indication that they feel the same way.
Re: Now I really don't get this at all LT Vs TJ That was my impression too until I read Rotoworld this morning.
