Yep. I can't take a single word Rex says in public serious anymore. It's become a joke. I get that he protects his players/coaches, and he has confidence, but it's just clown shoes now.
See thats the thing BB...he thinks he is smarter than everyone else. Rex summed up himself a couple weeks ago when during a press conference he was asked about this blabbing and he responded something to the affect of....I always compliment the other team...you guys know I always do that but nobody ever compliments me. He thinks by complimenting the other team, it allows him to act like a total jerkoff 90% of the time. He thinks by complimenting them...he will be forgiven for acting like a complete asshole with some of the things he says before the game. He treats the compliment show during post-game losses like an OUT. The Dolphins sucked today. The Giants sucked last week. The Broncos sucked...the Raiders sucked. The list goes on and on concerning Jet losses. But thats ok...Rex is not as bad as the world portrays him to be..because after the punches you in the balls and calls you a girl..he kisses you on the forehead. All forgiven. AND HOW DOES HE REWARD THE GUYS IN THE TRENCHES THAT BUST THEIR ASS...GOOD OR BAD. HE NAMES ANOTHER BAD BOY...HIS PRODIGAL SON...THE CAPTAIN.
All my friends in Pittsburgh who are die-hard Steelers fans hated Holmes for his antics. Nobody was sorry to see him cut despite the plays he made. Sooner or later signing Holmes was going to bite the Jets in the ass. Now it has. I really don't give a flying crap who gets cut at this point. I'm disgusted with the whole team.
Rex will get a pass for this debacle of a shit season. He is however in the hot seat now. I imagine tannenbaum is as well. He was traded for a 5th rounder and steeler nation was upset. They just knew they didnt have room for two problem childs/idiots (Ben). That said holmes can make the highlight reel with fabulous catches when he wants to. I don't understand what happened to this man? I thought when we got him we were going to be so strong based on what he was able to accomplish in the burgh. Instead we got our, "captain" 1) gutless 2) physically a pussy 3) fumbalitis 4) zero production 5) awful blocking 6) zero vertical threat (except occasional flag bc he excels at crying) 7) shoe string tackles ( I could easily tackle Holmes) what is his YAC? Does he have a 100yd game? 8) etc... Bray was worth the baggage. Bray was tough and wanted to succeed and for his team to succeed. Bray gives a better chance of wining.

"There were guys in the huddle not happy with Santonio's demeanor throughout the game and in the two-minute drill," said Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. "And they said something to him about it." The Jets captain was yanked as his team tried to rally in the fourth quarter Sunday and avoid elimination from the playoff race. To compound the soap opera, coach Rex Ryan said he thought Holmes took himself out. The Jets lost 19-17 to the Miami Dolphins. Following the spat with teammates, Holmes was replaced by Patrick Turner. "It was a coach's call," Holmes said. "Patrick came in and tapped me on the shoulder and told me to come out." The decision to bench Holmes was made by offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, a team source told ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Turner was sent in by wide receivers coach Henry Ellard. "I looked out there and I was wondering why he wasn't out there myself," Ryan said. "No, I didn't bench Santonio. ... Somebody told me he was on the bench." Ryan said he didn't want to comment further until he knows the particulars. The team source told Schefter that Jets offensive tackle Wayne Hunter got into a shouting match with Holmes after the wide receiver said something the players resented in the huddle. "It was definitely boiling" in the huddle, Tomlinson said. "Guys had had enough of it at that point." According to Tomlinson, players said to Holmes, "C'mon, we still have a chance." The Holmes blowup actually had been building. On the previous series, a veteran player sensed that Holmes wasn't into the game and told him to "go home," the team source told Cimini. The same source said, "It's been boiling over all season." Said Holmes of the commotion in the huddle: "I can't explain what that was about. Emotions were running high on the field between two guys on the same team." Tomlinson criticized Holmes for his "demeanor, body language -- not really into the game, feeling like it's over, feeling sorry for himself. We were still in the game." "It's tough for guys to follow a captain who behaves in that manner," Tomlinson said. "When you are a captain, guys are looking for you to lead by example, and you have to play your tail off to the last play." Holmes has developed a reputation in the locker room for not working hard during the week, the team source told Schefter. Holmes, who was held without a catch for the first time in his 88-game career and was only targeted once, was asked if he thought he deserved to be removed from the game. "I don't think I did. If it was my lack of jogging back to the huddle ... there were penalties and referees taking their time, so I shouldn't have to rush myself," he said. But Turner said that "may have had something to do with the way he handled it." Turner caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, but Miami then ran out the clock, ending New York's season. The meltdown occurred in what was probably the final game of Tomlinson's Jets career, and possibly the end of his long NFL career as well. "The worst thing that can happen (to a player) is when your teammates start to question your passion in the middle of a game," he said. "That's the worst thing. In that huddle, what you saw, guys looked in (Holmes') eyes and didn't see that fire in his eyes. Guys were turned off about that. We're all grown men. It's not the first time Holmes, who signed a five-year deal worth $45 million with the Jets last offseason, has been the focus of controversy this season. He twice called out the offensive line for not giving quarterback Mark Sanchez enough time to throw. At the time, right guard Brandon Moore said Holmes' comments "can have a fracturing effect" in the locker room. Moore also was disappointed Holmes made his negative opinions public since "that's not something a captain does." The Jets failed to fulfill Ryan's pledge to win a Super Bowl title, with Sunday's loss eliminating them from the chase for an AFC wild-card berth. The Jets (8-8) came into the game needing a win, along with losses by three other teams, to reach the playoffs. just speaks to the yearly shuffling of solid leaders to bring in guys Rex just has to have. I think they need to modify how they evaluate players -- solid locker room guys that can command respect and deliver on the field. Hello Ochocinco is a complete bust in NE, but because of the leadership in that locker room he never complained. Big reason I would keep LT would be for that one purpose.
Trade him or cut him, this suck because its going to set us back farther in reguards to Sanchez and his development.
I wish we coud keep him as well ... but the bottom line is, we just don't get enough production out of Greene as our main back to be able to carry LT on the roster for another year.
LT has gas left in the tank, if today wasn't an indication. I'd like to see him back and throw Bilal Powell in the mix.
Yes we should absolutely keep LT, and if Hunter was telling Homes not to give up or go home then he can def play for this team, maybe not as a starter. Interesting thing was, as soon as Holmes sits everything works. Even though it was soft coverage, and one drive we scored pretty easy. It seemed to me Sanchez relaxed and a ton weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. Holmes was told to go home lol... All the talent in the world and just lacking maturity, summarizes Holmes. I think we should let the water cool before we make a knee jerk reaction. Some moves I wouldn't mind seeing... Keep Sanchez, and bye to Brunell. Kerley is a keeper, Burress takes a cut or is cut, Mulligan looks to replicating his game after the fat head on my wall (he is just a bit slower), so trade him for a real fat head. Tomlinson stays, mcknight might be trade bait (unless Tomlinson leaves), Greene stays. Duccasse and Hunter stay but as back ups, so sign a RT and add through draft. Moore might walk unfortunately so we might needed mooooore help than we thought Sign Pouha, Scott takes a cut out is cut, same for Pace. The safeties are not starters next year, either replace all, or keep 2 as backups (prefer Pool, and the good white safety). Sign a legit pass rusher, keep Maybin. Sign new punter and kicker, hope ST coach Westy stays put. Get rid of the OC, WR coach, and keep Moore as a special assistant. Keep Callahan as OC since he knows first hand what's going on. Rex gets another year and so does Tanny...
