I know this is in another thread, but I was interested in your view on the following as a pats fan:

From John Clayton's blog on ESPN.com

Patriots games: Patriots coach Bill Belichick used a little bit of gamesmanship with the Chargers crowd prior to the AFC playoff game in San Diego. The game was delayed about 15 minutes because the Bears and Seahawks went into overtime. The Patriots were announced, but they didn't show. Instead, the Patriots ran onto the field the second the Chargers were announced. The large contingent of Patriots players ran the length of the field while the Chargers defense was being announced. It seems to get them extra fired up.

First off BT, I got to say I respect you as a poster. You seem willing to rational discuss things. I appreciate it.

As for that tidbit, I read it 3 times to clearly understand it (I think I'm an idiot, lol.) I don't even get what advantage or disadvantage a team would get from that. Most people are not even ready to watch in the stands. I guess I don't really know what I think about it.

Here is my honest take on it, and virtually all things pre/post game. I really don't care. What I care about is the game itself, and how my team plays on the field, especially winning/losing. All that other stuff is for the kids to talk about. Doesn't make their interest in it right/wrong/bad/good. It's just that I don't really bother myself with it.

Was it a sign of disrespect? I really have no idea. Was it disrespectful to deny Pats fans access to tickets? Maybe, but I laughed at it. I don't know, it just doesn't bother me, maybe there is something wrong with me because it seems to rile up a lot of folks.

As I mentioned in another thread, I don't think it gives either team an advantage or disadvantage, but it really takes away from the fan experience if you are at the game. I know BB job is to win games and take every advantage he can and on some level I respect him for his focus and incredible coaching abilities. However, there really is no reason to do something like this, it's just rude. (Likewise there was no reason for SD to restrict tix sales to people with SoCal addresses.) To be honest, I would be very disappointed if Mangini pulled something like this with the Jets.

I guess I just fall into the category that thinks BB is a great (great) coach, but an enormous prick.

Thanks for your first comment. Fortunately or unfortunately as I have grown older I have become much more rational about sports and don't have the same do-or-die/love-hate/fanatical mentality I had as a kid/young adult.

I have a post in this thread where I write about the major difference between retaliating during a game and retaliating after a game. The Patriots were doing both yesterday. The former I can understand. You can't do the latter. It's unprofessional.

I don't remember anyone calling the 1986 and 1990 Giants a classless bunch.
I don't remember people talking that way about the 1987 and 1991 Redskins.
    I don't remember it about the 1984, 1988, 1989, and 1994 49ers.
The 1985 Bears were extremely cocky, but classless was not a term I ever heard.
1999 Rams classless? No. The 2001 team that lost the SB? Yeah, we heard it then a bit.
1996 Packers. Were they classless? No.

What did the Jets do at the end of the November game that was so bad?

I remember some of the Jets hugging each other. I don't recall any Jets dancing on the Patriots field art and taunting Patriots players after the final gun.

Well, your phrasing it wrong to me, as I don't think it was bad, but they were gloating their smashing of Brady with him in the mud. Their gloating over destroying Brady was disrespectful to some. In addition, their celebration on the field after the game showed no class to some. It's all about how it is perceived by any number of people. You can't please everyone, and we lost fair and square.

If you ask me, they kicked our ass and deserved to gloat and celebrate, rubbing it in our players and fans faces. They took it to us. But a lot of people who I know who were there talked about how the Jets acted. And I said the same thing to them too. If we didn't want it to happen, then we should have won.

LMAO hittin Tom Brady in da mouf

dude, can you really compare a ralley for the fans, and that bullshit move the pats pulled on the field? seriously....you usually have better judgement about your posts. i cant believe you think that the pats pulling that mess doesnt deserve a bashing or 2. and when you piss off one of the classiest, most respected players in the league...its not really something you can defend.

at first LT came off looking like an asshole until you see and hear the whole story. the pats are classless, just like their HC....and their owner.

I spoke to my buddy who is a Charger season ticketholder and was at the game. His quote was,

"yeah, it was like they won the Super Bowl. EVERYONE was out in the middle of the field celebrating and doing the Merriman dance."

Now I know he didn't specifically mean every single player on the Pats was out there and doing the Merriman, but it sounds like it is lot more than just the "1 - 5ish" that someone mentioned in a previous post.

Yes, it was a sign of disrespect, and a fully intentional one at that. I played football for a long time, and let me tell you, players take great, great pride in the introductions and the pre-game stuff leading up to kick off. I remember once we unintentionally set up to stretch on the home-team's side of the field for a game, their homecoming game... It got them so ticked off it was unbelievable. The Pats continuously do stuff like this to try to gain a psychological advantage over the opponent, but all it really is is classless, regardless of whether of not it works...

Classless, disrespectful or not, Lt should be a bit more pissed about losing the game and possibly his best chance at the Super Bowl.
I have always been in the camp of If you dont like it then win the f'ng game.
You lose and you have nothing to complain about.

I had to endure local newscast on Fox last night and it was incredibly classless in my opinion. They (newscast) were all making taunts about the Chargers and being extremely arrogant as so many New Englanders can be... getting fans on camera agreeing with them and taunting the Chargers.

It is one thing to score and celebrate. But to go to midfield as a group and do another teams "dance" is simply taunting and unsportsmanlike. Coming from a team that has pretty much elevated the bar pretty damn high for a parity driven league, this was pretty bush-league and classlessness at its finest.

I had a lot of respect for how New England has normally conducted business and winning. This certainly isn't one of those times. Enjoy the ride New Englanders... karma is a bitch.

so far karma has been pretty good for the pats, and truth is if the chargers hadn't acted like a bunch of junior high kids during the week you wouldn't have seen any of those things. you didn't see any thing like that last week. theres only been 3 times the pats have done that. 1. after the 2001 afcg in pit 2. after sb 39 when mitchell ran his mouth and called out Harrison, and this past week.

It was two players. Ellis Hobbs and Colvin.

Get over it LT. They acted like jerks, and so what. Be concerned about your team at this point.

Good game. I know you will be back for more next year. You are one great player.

Let's just all note that Tomlinson did not complain about any Jets dancing after the 2004 Wild Card Game.

He's played 95 regular season games and two postseason games. This is the first time he complained about another team acting like clowns.

    I'm just stating facts.

And certainly don't bitch that they are mocking your juicehead teammate's stupid dance that should be a 15 yard penalty to begin with. But given the heat of battle, I'll excuse LT for venting.

What do you expect from arrogant lowlife, classless scum like Belichick and New Englanders. Beware the fall, my friends.
