That may be true but it would still be worse than providing a spark and winning a game this year. This season is about one thing and one thing only and that's getting the 1st pick in the draft and getting a QB you can finally build around. If some of the young talent looks worthy of keeping around and being part of future great, that's a bonus. Same for anyone on the CS, Morton will get a chance but don't think he is worthy of a promotion after 2 games as OC.

Bowles is the perfect HC for this season, it would be stupid to change anything in season.

I think its actually about two things. Its about getting that top draft pick, but as important is determining who are the players you want as the foundation of your franchise going forward.

Right now its looking like Wilkerson, Lee, and even Williams are all busts. It looks like the defense needs to be totally rebuilt. Is that really true? Or is it Bowles scheme/coaching? That question needs to be answered as soon as possible. It cant wait until the end of the season. Because there will be hiring and drafting to be done in the offseason and if they dont know who should stick based on their own abilities then they will misallocate those resources.

The Jets are spinning their wheels with Bowles and Rogers. If the thought is that Morton is too green, elevate anyone else on the coaching staff besides Rogers who needs to be fired with Bowles.

  3. He was absolutely a Bowles influenced pick.He was outspoken leading up to that draft that he wanted to upgrade defensive team speed(of course this was the higher priority than an actual offense) he answered most of the questions after the pick was made.

Bowles lives & dies w this multiple/hybrid philosophy which essentially removes actual positions in the back 7 in passing situations & focuses on individual match ups. Lee theoretically fits this idea. But he didn't account for what position Lee would play in the 34 base in running situations.Bowles thought he was a mike in a 34..but that has proven to be a horrid miscalculation. He admitted such this offseason but yet we're still seeing Lee playing the Mike.. anyone holding out on if Bowles is clueless should look no further than this notion..

Young player, high draft pick, very talented..coach keeps forcing him at a position he admitted himself was not good yet there he is getting blown off the ball playing the same spot.I thought this year was about proper player development??so much for that..

This defensive staff including Bowles is the worst we've had since Kotite. An absolute myriad of sheer incompetence

Thanks for clarifying that Browning, was far too occupied seeing Lee and Davis attempting to hit the gap inside. Prior to the snap, I had a feeling that was going to be a TD.

Leonard Williams got shut down yesterday big time. That was probably the worst, I've ever seen him play.

I'm not 100% sure Wilk, Lee, and Williams are not part of the future. With a dolt like Bowles at the helm. Perhaps they all deserve another chance with a real coach. We've seen great things before out of Williams and Wilkerson. But Bowles has everything circling the drain

It's like Vilma going from an excellent 4-3 LB to a 3-4 ILB when Mangini took over the jets, Vilma looked terrible, then goes to the saints who were playing a 4-3 and goes back to being the LB we saw when he was a jet and helped the Saints win a SB.

Blowes is going to crush this young mans confidence, reviewing the video on Mondays and watching yourself get crushed like Manti Teo against Alabama in the National Championship game is humiliating.

It's not even close, the guards are getting to second level and not even working up a sweat moving Davis and Lee out of the way.

Be careful what you wish for. If Bowles is replaced by another defensive HC with "his own ideas" we could see more high round picks being burnt on replacement players.

We've just spent two high picks on safeties replacing a safety who was picked in the First round. And Pryor did have one good season, contrary to popular belief (so I suspect coaching is an issue here).

If the next guy thinks that Adams and Maye are not his type of player then we are screwed for a few more years yet.

I honestly think Jets will opt to hire an Offensive minded HC for 2018. I'm not worried about Adams or Maye not carrying over their performance from year 1 to year 2. I expect them both to be cornerstone defensive pieces for the Jets for a very long time.

More reason for the idiot to go (as we needed more):

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...er_costly_punt_return.html#incart_river_index

While Bowles had a better option to use:

"for the Jets to perhaps install Jeremy Kerley as their new punt returner. He is much more experienced than Raymond, a second-year pro. Kerley has 155 career punt returns, including 134 from 2011-15 with the Jets..."

Instead he decided to use Raymond who had already done this:

"Raymond muffed two punt returns in Buffalo, but he recovered both."

When we say that Bowles shows NO ability to learn from his mistakes, this has to be part of the prime evidence. Honestly, it almost seems like he WANTS to lose.

Wonder if he is on a bonus to get the number pick before he gets the bullet at the end of the season ?

There is good im firing Bowles, you get the stench of him far away from this team. What has he done to be able to keep this job? I don't trust him with what little talent they have. Don't want to see the Jets unprepared every week. We've seen enough of that. Its time to start talking about what's next.

  16. Absolutely.

If this season is about player development which is the exact message ownership has given this fan base why would it make sense to develop said players under a lame duck coach within an ineffective scheme??

Further he's not teaching the players situational football bc his situational philosophies are completely idiotic.

The whole franchise has regressed under the Bowles. The sooner we stop the regression the better

nah keep him for this year, because I want a new QB. A good coordinator can fix the talent.

I have to admit that I thought Bowles was a good hire, even through his first season... though there were signs that he had *ahem* limitations.

Now I'm hoping he lasts the season, if only to guarantee enough losses to get us the #1 pick.

There will be a generational talent at QB in the draft, we absolutely need to get that talent. If it means dealing with the incompetence of Bowles for 14 more weeks then that's what we need to do. That is the number 1 priority, everything else is secondary.

Last time I checked, Wade Phillips was still a DC at Rams. Do you think he can't make this defense formidable?

On a second thought - why isn't that a good idea? Give Phillips the HC gig. Maybe he won't get us to the superbowl, but he will damn sure straighten this defense out in a year or two.
