I don't think you should ever take a RB that high, so I would be upset, but I could see these Jets making that decision.
I totally agree that I would like to see the first two picks go to some combination of QB, RB and WR. The defense should be a top 3 if they do nothing and it's way past time to do something on the other side of the ball.
Chubb was a five * recruit, but your point is very valid - I can't argue against that. It would be a reach. IDK how I feel about Kevin White. He bothers me as a prospect, since he's a 1 year wonder. Then again, I thought ODB jr was the ultimate boom or bust in the first round last yr. I would do everything in my power to trade down, but man I can't see the Jets taking Gurley w/ Beasley still OTC.
Chubb was a 4* recruit. Number 6 RB in the class. At least according to rivals. http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Nick-Chubb-143831 If the Jets take Gurley, I would hope its either via trade back, or in the second round. If the Jets could get Clevelands two first rounders and get Parker/Gurley, that would be a tremendous haul.
damn you Bleacher Report! Rivals is far more credible. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ecruit-nick-chubb-looks-ridiculously-athletic I would def trade down and take Gurley though. But I would take a lineman, and a RB.
I like White, but I would take Cooper or Fowler over him in a heartbeat. White's ceiling and potential has scouts going crazy, he clearly has a higher ceiling than Cooper. I liked ODB, but preferred Jarvis Landry thinking he was a safer pick and good value in Rd 2. I knew Landry wasn't the athlete that ODB is but liked his production and toughness for the NFL better.
Yeah, when I look at these players - I know I am no scout, but potential to me is a big factor, but also a big risk. A lot of NFL players end up not achieving their full potential or ceiling. It can get teams into a lot of trouble. White is a physical freak at WR, but I think Cooper can and will be an all-pro catching 100 balls a season. I don't know if I see that in Kevin White's future. Natural instincts. I just don't feel Cooper and White are in the same class. I was a HUGE fan of Landry and I think will be a very productive receiver in the NFL for a long time. I am still holding onto hope that Cooper gets drafted by us @ 6.
To be fair, McShay said that Tenn will take Mariota but will likely trade him. Listed the Jets as one of the suitors. _
The Hawks didn't finish with a record over .500 until Wilson became the QB They were only good when Favre was the QB defense or not. I really don't think we should be looking at what the coach we just fired is doing as a guideline for building our team. I think Gurley is as close AP good as we're gonna see in a while. I just don't think RB's are so valuable as to draft in the top ten nowadays. This may have been an interesting discussion but there's no way after the Acl tear.
eh?… if we traded down with ATL for their 3rd or 2nd while they chose a stud pass rusher that fell to us, than sure, I guess that works… ...we'd still need a strong side OLB ASAP, and his injuries are concerning though… straight taking him at 6 would take BALLS.
hm, on the other hand his value in the mid first could justify his selection in the top 10. if the jets staff think they're getting an elite talent, and they'd be willing to be patient with his recovery (maybe by giving powell his spot in the early going?hmm…) then they'll shoot for it.
San Diego, Cleveland & the Jets are the teams I'm hearing. The Browns and Chargers have more to offer than the Jets.
Where are you hearing this? Are people actually talking to you or are you just using reporter language about articles you read?
Just saying, not gonna happen. Doesn't fit Gailey's style. ie lynch and drafting spiller. and ivory is already the thumper. now Gordon on the other hand.
