Looking around the league at what other teams with vacancies are doing, I am even more ecstatic with us getting Bowles, and I am willing to give Maccagnan the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise. The first order of business for Macc though *must* be to fire Terry Bradway.
Tell that to John Fox and Gary Kubiak. Fox had a stroke or something, and Kubiak collapsed on the field during a game.
Sorry to hear that mentally or physically you don't feel people in your same age bracket are up to the task. That says a lot more about your condition than theirs. Maybe you need to be more active and spend more time with younger people. Challenges keep people young.
I've never said 63 was old. Other people said I said it. What I said was, a person at 63 has to ask if they want to put themselves thru the grind of being an NFL ass't coach all things considered. "A man has to know his limitations.." regardless of age. If that answer is yes, fine. If not, it doesn't mean he's old, it means he wants to do something else with his life. Kinda like a "Been there, done that..".
At first I wasn't sure if I liked the hire, I wanted Quinn. However after reading up on Todd Bowles, I am impressed. Good luck Coach.

Doing a quick bump to point out that the reaction to this hire was overwhelmingly positive I don’t agree with the Gase hire, but I liked the Bowles hire and it turned out to be a mistake The Jets have been run by the court of public opinion for too long. Perhaps it’s a good thing that the FO ignored the fan noise and went with the guy they wanted (instead of, say, getting bullied out of hiring Marrone). Only time will tell if we’re right or they’re right, but most of us were wrong about Bowles.
The difference is he was an unknown. The guy we just hired is coming off a three-year run where he fought with his players, fought with management and “lead“ his offense to “bottom three” years, ending in a “bottom two” year this past season.
