A coach can be away from the game for 2 years and STILL have a strong impact. Are you telling me you would not hire Mike Westoff right now for Special Teams? (Not saying he wants the job, he admitted the game on ST has changed...He cant keep his guys)
I can't say I know much about Bowles... But If he starts Geno it will tell me everything I need to know...
20th in points scored against. 5th in yards but you're giving up a shit ton of points. I'll take a better ranked team against points forced.
You do realize that pick 6s, punt returns, etc etc all count a Except points against includes all points scored against. Neither metric is perfect. Rex was an overrated DC. But so is Bowels movements. Rex being overrated doesnt justify hiring this clown.
We gave up a "shit-ton" of points because our QB was Mr. Pick-6 and the offense kept giving the other team the ball on our side of the 50 yard line. That's why you don't judge a defense by Points Against, you judge it by Yards Against. Rex never had a below average defense with the Jets. Any suggestion that he did is intentional obfuscation.
not sure how to feel about this move, with the way the jets have played this year i have been turned down to watching football, but i at least know the cardinals defense was one of the best and offense lost their season but remember, this guy went from cro and patterson and the honeybadger to DEE FUCKING BUST MILLNER AND ??? DARREN WALLS OR FAKE REVIS OR GOD FORBID MCDOUGLE however, the dude probably will bring the rex ryan defense without being a circus
The general Arizona fanbase seems like they are going to miss him. I'll trust the fans who have watched him close the past 2 years. http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/f4/bowles-new-jets-coach-217301.html
Our team's historic failures have made our fans unnecessarily negative. Be optimistic for once in your life. We just hired a new GM and a new HC, all in the same day! We have a new leadership for this team and our outlook is looking up! Let's see if we can find (or develop) a Qb, get some free agents with our $40 million, get a few good draft picks, and make a playoff run next year.
The 3-4 is a big deal. Not having our defensive linemen value lessened by switching to a 4-3 is a big deal. I like the hire. The Jets didn't wait for a maybe who could have easily slipped through their fingers, instead they went out and got a guy who was probably better suited to the talent on hand. One other interesting thing is that Bowles is a blitzer. He plays a lot of nickel and dime defense and he blitzes out of it a lot. Rex-lite.
No offence...fans are idiots. There are many who will miss Rex. I like the hire, new attitude. If he likes Gailey, there must be a reason. A new HC doesn't pick someone he thinks will suck.
