I said it was my opinion. The Jets were down by FIVE, not four, because they went for two...the score was 10-15 when Manning and the rest of the starters sat down. Good God, did you watch the game? Anyway, we all saw how the Colts operated without Peyton Manning (and with Curtis Painter) not too long after that; I don't see how anybody could put up much of an argument after witnessing THAT. The Colts beat the Jets in the playoffs that year. Hell, that move to bench the starters ruined the Colts perfect season too. They were 14-0 heading into that game. You think those players didn't want to go undefeated? I believe they would have been extremely motivated to do that. The Buffalo Bills creamed the Colts the following week, 7-30...but it wasn't REALLY the Colts...not really. Jim Caldwell was a horrible coach too, BTW. And if it doesn't matter how the Jets turned it around, why did you pose the question? They did it TWICE under Ryan, and that 2009 season was one of them. A lot of those clutch end-of-the-game plays were made by Santonio Holmes in 2010. Defense and running the ball were extremely important, as we all know. And it DOES matter how they did it if you expect it to happen for the third time under Rex's four years. The fact that the Jets would even HAVE to try to do that every single year says something.
So you think the difference was we were down 5 midway through the 3rd at Indy vs. down 4 in the 4th qtr at SD. We very well might have lost, the chances were better than we would lose than win BUT Indy did what they did and we won and unlike NYJ '93 or Buffalo '04 we didn't lose to backups. The '11 Colts had nothing to do w/ the '09 Colts w/ Painter. The '11 Colts gave up, they had no QB, we see what the Colts are doing now w/ a promising rookie. The Colts made the SB and could have won if not for a typical Peyton choke, for them it was about the SB and they had a chance to win it. another poster said we'd never do anything like that under rex, I simply stated the fact of what we did in 2009 and 2010 to reach AFC Championship Games. Was Holmes part of the team? who cares who made the plays? a QB jhs to get his playmakers the ball, right? and the big play in the incredible comeback vs. Houston was made by Braylon AND our run game was mediocre most of 2010 along w/ a D that consistently folded in crunch time(they still do).
