Why would Miami trade a first round pick for Teddy this year when they can sign him for free in the off season for free (minus the contract). Do you think they fancy themselves a SB contender that just needs a QB? They are picked by most to have among the worst records in the NFL and almost everyone on this board predicted the the Jets would sweep them. I don't see any way possible that they would consider trading for Teddy, even if Tannehill wrecks his knee again.

  2. Why? Because Teddy already passed on them in Free agency once & if Tannehill isnt the answer which we’re all about 80% sure hes not than suddenly they need a QB to start their rebuild a year behind their divisional foes.Does Tannenbaum even make it that long? Bridgewater gives them a shot in a similar manner to Garropolo..the price is a first rounder due to the inner division mark up.Sure they could wait for the draft to select their own guy from scratch but A. Its an average class w alot of inaccurate throwers B.Does their Front office make it that long C.Tannenbaum is not one to pin his hopes on the draft esp one a year out.

I doubt a trade occurs but connecting the dots is not that hard in this case despite them being rivals

@KurtTheJetsFan Can't trade Teddy to Miami. Why solve their problems for them? Even a 1st Round pick I would feel iffy about. I truly think Bridgewater is a good QB, so I don't want to hand him to Miami or Buffalo. Or even New England. Brady is 41. All 3 AFC East teams would love to have him. Call me crazy, but I would rather have a 2nd Round Pick from an NFC team than a 1st Round Pick from the Dolphins. :)

To start Darnold would be a complete about face for TB as he is prejudiced against most new players getting significant playing time...I think the only other rookie Bowles felt safe with in a starting role was L Williams

This game against the Eagles will be messy and we never beat Philadelphia..perfect game for Josh M to get used to football again rather than risk injury to Sam or Ted...who cares if Toddy shows his cards ..I don't think it matters much..avoiding injury is paramount imo

If you go by "who gives us the best chance of winning mantra" then it's gotta be Bridgewater or young Sam out there vs Detroit...McGown will prob revert back to journeyman form if he is the chosen one but who knows?

I think we will see a lot of talent and flashes of greatness from a handful of players this season..that's ALL Iam expecting

I get that Tannenbaum isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer and make some silly decisions, but I just don't see how Miami would trade a 1st round pick for a 1 year rental. Again, if they want Teddy, it would make more sense to pick him up as a Freen Agent next year. Jets fans would be livid if Mac traded a 1st round pick for a 1 year rental in a down year.

  7. Lol..im not saying id do it im merely connecting the dots.

  8. I dont disagree but lets remember Garropolo was technically not yet signed long term either.Obviously thered need to be some dialogue between miami & Teddy on working something out long term before a deal would get done..Its all a longshot but i can at least “believe” that the phins made a call to jets about Teddy.

If nothing else dumping tannehill & Nabbing Teddy/extending him perhaps buys them another year

    Oh its crazy.

I used to be on here constantly years ago. I took a long break for a while and just got back on here again. You don't realize the stupidity until you take a break from it.

I may not have considered all the complications but I'd like to see MacCagnan get Bridgewater to sign a two or three year extension - light on guarantees and heavy on incentives. Keeps him here now if he's needed and makes him much more valuable in a trade if Darnold proves himself and stays healthy. Why would he do that? Because nobody is really sure how good his leg is today.

I can't see the Jets agreeing to a trade with the Dolphins. Especially involving a promising QB.

They wouldn't trade a 1st round pick for him for only a one-year rental. No team would do that unless they were a real SB contender and their starter went down. Any trade would be contingent upon signing Teddy to a long-term deal.

They wouldn't wait because Teddy has already turned them down once as a FA, and a number of other teams could outbid them next offseason. If they trade for him, they know they'll have him.

The NY Jets would never give Teddy Bridgewater to a divisional rival in Miami and Miami would never give a divisional rival in NYJ a 1st round pick in order to help us build for our future.

This isn't Madden the video game. This is reality. And trades like this just do not happen within the NFL.

    Put it this way:

The Steelers and Browns once traded their 3rd & 4th rounders to one another plus a player in exchange (Shamarko Thomas).

That was the first trade between the two franchises since 1968....

    Quoted for Truth:

Sounds like a man with a man, when in comparison to this (below).

As I mentioned then, and I'll state now.

If the plan was to keep Teddy Bridgewater "long term", well, then, you..

A.) Never draft Darnold to begin with.

    And...

B.) You would then instead take either Bradley Chubb or Quenton Nelson in order to improve your Pass Rush or O-Line.

As most of us claimed throughout the offseason Teddy Bridgewater was finished as a Jet the very moment Sam Darnold was drafted.

O.k TGG. We can lock this puppy up. We've now got our answers we were all waiting for.

Teddy Bridgewater and a 6th to New Orleans for a 3rd round draft pick.
