This makes no sense at all. They had an agreement with Barr, he backed out. Why would they keep shopping for OLB when they thought they had their guy?
Because we aren't going to sign Bell and another back like Coleman, and if we wait on Bell, Coleman will sign elsewhere.
.....you are a little bit thick headed huh? If they wait around for Bell too long, they will miss out on other RBs that are available. The Barr situation is obviously different. I mentioned it to show you how quickly other players can get snatched up. The Jets wanted an OLB, thought they had one and then all the other guys got scooped up. Whose to say if Bell pussy foots around too long that the Jets miss out on any other 2nd tier RBs?
I'm not thickheaded, your Barr example was just really bad. Barr was the first domino, no shit a bunch of people signed after that. Coleman is slowly dropping on my list. He's worth Powell money and he's going to get starter money. He's not a good runner unless he has space, and unless we also sign Paradis, space isn't going to come easy.
Could be worse..... you could be self employed / Indy contractor, then go back and realize you made sub minimum wage when you factor in how much time was wasted on the JETS
Available options are Bell, Coleman, and Ingram. It appears Jordan Howard can be had via trade. Go fucking get Bell.
What do you think they are doing. Why do you think he hasn't agreed to a deal? At some point, you just have to say "fuck it, time for Plan B."
You see the guaranteed money he might be getting? Dude is a RB you realize? 60mil guaranteed is stupid money for a RB.
If not Bell, I'd re-sign Powell cheap and make a big effort to draft a RB. Ingram def not worth it. Coleman depends on price tag i wouldn't overspend.
If they don't adress the O line it won't matter who is running the ball----rather they sign Paradis and then either Ingram or trade for Howard----Bell for 17 - 20 million ? No thanks
its negotiating 101. You don't give something without getting something back. If the Jets took some Barr money and offered a little ore of it to Bell then they have to ask for something back. In this case, their "get" is timeliness. Making the offer good for only so long disallows Bell to use it as a negotiating tool against another team. Had the Jets offered Bell more with no get back, then Bell would be wise to wait until the Jets called back with yet ANOTHER offer. Business only works that way for the foolish.
I see it, and I get it. But let's say we're signing the Bell of 2017 and prior. Not last years jetski version. He is a team-changing player. Would do WONDERS for Sam. Why not get him? In a perfect world, we'd have Paradis locked up already.
