I don't think it would be $70 mil guaranteed. That's WAY higher than Gurley's $45 mil which is the benchmark IMO. Maybe Chicago needs a new ILB and they'd take Lee for Howard.
OL is important & all but i think folks are taking the skils way too lightly.Even w Crowder this is an average group of weapons.
I don't even think the Bears make all that much sense. They have two cost-controlled RBs in Howard and Cohen... one rushed for 1,000 yards and the other is a pro-bowl playmaker. They are Bell split up into two different parts. He doesn't make sense there, although it's hard to say a top 3 RB doesn't "fit" somewhere.
They want to move Howard if they can. Bell + Cohen as having a "similar" skill set would be interesting to see how it flowed.
They'd have to get creative with both of them on the field. Maybe lining Cohen up in the slot? I just don't see the point in signing a star like Bell for big money if you're going to limit his role, or limit your incumbent Pro-Bowler's role.
Apparently Rapoport just said on NFL Network that we aren't making as hard a push for Bell anymore. Extremely disappointing. If we lose out on Bell we better be getting Paradis or else we kind of flopped on the offensive side of free agency.
We arguably have the best QB of the 3,offering the most $$ & biggest market. Hopefully the stars align
