Yeldon from what I can remember, decent 3rd down back ... can catch and pass pro, not sure about his ability to run the ball in general. Just feel like there's gonna be some stud in the 3rd / 4th round we can pick up that can contribute right out of the gate for the fraction of the price.
Yeldon reminds me of Coleman. Good enough when he starts, but the team he is on is always starting someone else or looking for someone better. I see no reason to bring either here.
I don't want Le'Veon Bell. There are no S's in his name that I can change to $ if things start to go wrong.
I've wanted Bell for months now. For many of reasons. For one he'll instantly become our greatest offensive weapon of a dual threat since dating back to #28 and he'll immediately upgrade Sam Darnold specifically Darnold's play action will become a real feature. A top 5 RB who can record 80 receptions out of the backfield creates for one of the NFL's top 3 offensive skilled position players and will help to improve Sam's accuracy due to having a great check down target in Bell. Bell is a player opposing DC's must game plan for. He'll open up our entire offense while taking pressure off of a 2nd year QB and imo both Sam Darnold the QB and Jet fans deserve an elite player of Le'Veon's caliber. I'll become down right thrilled with Bell signing as a Jet and highly disappointed if we're not able to sign him. Yes; he's that good. The #1 FA for a reason.
Originally I was concerned Bell would be the second coming of Revis and all of his contract hold-out nonsense. But, having a superstar running back like Bell in the fold would take huge pressure off of Darnold and make the New York Jets a force to be reckoned with, I hope they sign him.
Big Ben will look completely lost out there come next season without both of Bell & A.B. Bell is not only a no brainier, but a must.
A thought has just occurred to me....all these rumors about the Jets being the favorites for Bell is likely a smokescreen from Bell's agent to drive his contract price up. We'll find out in a few hours/days, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I have been anti-Bell signing for months, but I just changed my vote, Macc needs to do it, screw the $$$, I believe Bell will come back with a vengeance, just turned 27 last month, had a year to get motivated, will have a chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong, Sign the Beast!!!!
Personally, I didn't care about the money, My concerns are off field and desire. No reason for him to have a chip. His ability was never questioned. He was offered a record setting contract for his position. It's always been does he check out after cashing in for me. Coupled with the numerous shots he has taken at the Jets. With the timing of Sam's contract, the new CBA, and very likely lock out in 21, even if he does. It doesn't set the team back. The obvious reward if he doesn't cash out far exceeds the risk. Mac should extend him a very good offer. If he turns it down, move on.
For those pretending Coleman isn't a big dropoff from Bell... That being said, I'd still be fine with him if Bell chooses someone else.
Jets will have to back the Brinks up to sign Bell, and it won't be worth it in the long run. Get Coleman, draft a young guy in the middle rounds. Pay Morse or Paradis, sign Houston, trade down and draft a pass rusher and another guard with the picks.
The more Coleman becomes a reality, the more I don't like it. As I said above, I'll be fine with it because he's absolutely an upgrade over Powell (age, health) and McGuire (JAG) but that doesn't make him good per say.
