Good free agent guards sign for a lot of money. That's just life these days. You either pay the piper now or suck on the field in September. If you want to avoid paying the piper you have option two, which is to draft a stud guard and live with his rookie mistakes. If you don't want to draft the stud you have option three, which is draft another guy late on the first day or early on the second and hope he develops into a decent player.
