to all those who think o-line is made up of late rounders

Yes you can. We already did. (I read your entire post btw)

Remember, that great O-line that got C-Mart his Rushing title???
    McKenzie, Mawae, Fabini, Goodwin, Kendall

All FA's & Later round Picks!

Like I said before, I like D'Brick I just have a hard time believing that we *MUST* use a #4 on a LT who in almost every scouting report was listed as a Pass Blocking Specialist!!
They all said he needs to work on his run blocking and is lower body strength.

To me , that sounds like a Project since a #4 pick should usually be close to NFL ready.

IOW. I am Happy w/Brick not happy spending a #4 on a Lineman. That's all.

Which is where I 100% agree with you.

    Well said Dabz.
They were backed into a 'forced pick' here, Bush was too $$, Line was in shambles and no one wanted Leinart so they couldn't really trade down.

So It's not like We had many options. But still , to pass a skill position player @#4 is hard to do. Trading Down a few spots would've been nice .

Elway was not drafted in the last decade... so technically, that list is this....

Yeah, like Leinart would have been ready.

Not sure if we talked about this yet, but our D-Players have to be THRILLED with D'Brick and Mangold. No more 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. How many times last year did we fail to convert on 3rd and short? Our D-Players had just gotten to the gatoraide when they had to turn around and go back out onto the field. This will alter TOP at least 5-10 mins a game in our favor, helping to keep our D fresh for the 4th qtr. Just a thought.

In a perfect world that would suit many (not me I didn't want a qb in the 1st...so much for being objective :) ), but at the end of the day we made out pretty good landing the top Tackle, Center and no.4 qb in the draft, a qb that probably would have been a 1st rounder if he didn't hurt his ankle. For what its worth I initially wanted to trade down a few spots, but there is no guaruntee brick he would still be there, not to mention no one wanted to trade up for leinart at that point, so this is the safest way to ensure we get him was to stay there. Its not like we reached for him like buffalo did donte whitner. . .

Who knows if Dbrick + Clemens = Leinart + Justice its all a matter of conjecture this early. I guess its easier to like Leinart and Justice, they are big name players both projected to be 1st round picks. But factoring Mangini's desire to bring in guys w/character it is easy to see why Dbrick and Clemens ended up being the choices.

In any case, shoulda/coulda's are pretty moot. I think as time goes by everyone I hope will see that the player we get takes precedence over the place we get him. Why should it matter that brick was drafted at 4 as compared to 7 or 8? Those spots aren't reserved for RB's, WR's and Qb's, you take the best player available.

You would think the jets fans of all people would appreciate landing someone as important as a franchise LT. He's widely regarded as the 'safest' pick due to his athleticism and footwork. No other lineman pans out to be as much of a success as he does. I wouldn't change the 1st round one bit.

Drafting Mangold & Ferguson was the smartest thing to do.....management made the right choice, trust me some of you ain't happy now but when you see our offense driving down the field, you will be
