Isn't it funny how Pryor looks like a really good SS when he's playing close to the line, IK looks like a legit player when he's playing, Amaro looks great when he is actually thrown the ball, and we still got Dozier, who everybody was high on but he is converting from tackle to guard, so it takes a bit of time. So maybe in a few years, there are four legit NFL starters out of the 2014 draft. I guess that's why they say you need at least 3 years to properly evaluate a draft.
Agreed. Reilly even contributes a bit. That isnt even including Evans and McDougle who are hurt. I cant say I'm a huge fan of this draft, but for everyone to bitch and moan about how its the worst ever seems silly.
These were the Titans they were playing, so lets not get at ALL excited! With a seriously flawed OL that had player(s) just brought in from the practice squad, whatever...the DL should have been able to smother the run. Jets seriously need a OLB that can rush the QB. I like the 4-3 front with Coples though. He was pressuring all game.
Imo if Locker stayed in the game the Jets would have lost, so good play for Coples, but let's not go too crazy over the win. My favorite play was Sudfield picking up like 42 down the sideline. Go baby! Didn't know he had that kind of speed. But of course it wsa called back. More OL issues. And Johnson made a couple of plays, not enough, though. Smith improved enough to be barely mediocre against a terrible D. And of course that idiot Ryan goes on and on about how Smith played very well. Enough with that. Boy, Whisenhunt sure has his work cut out for him.
Yeah this DL roster is going to be a big issue this off season. Happy troubles as the Irish say, but only up to a point. Coples we've been waiting for him to elevate his game, and he does it by, surprise, returning to his natural position. It just f'ing figures with the Jets that the Richardson pick was so great, but adds to a too heavy roster at DL. Too heavy in the sense that the holes elsewhere seem to cry out for some kind of trade here. Maybe they should look at a base 4-3.
I certainly dont want to make the game seem more important than it was. Wins and losses no longer matter. But now that the season is over, we can take the time and evaluate the young players. Seeing which players are earning their job for next year. I'm especially excited to watch IK play. He made plays in the preseason and he's making plays now.
Defense played pretty decent despite not having Wilkerson. Watching us play zone is depressing however, cbs don't break on the ball and always seem to give a 15 yard cushion. Adams didn't play well. O line needs help (particularly RG). Need more receivers. Had an amaro sporting. Offensive play calling still suspect. Good, bad Geno, still hates throwing the ball away
I take little to no solace from this game. The 2-11 Jets scrubs were playing the 2-11 Titans scrubs. This was barely one step above a pre-season game. Sadly, about the only thing I can take away from this game is that our people actually caught some balls instead of dropping them....oh wait...Decker.... Taking anything away from this game, more than what it is, is like saying Simms should start because he tore up a bunch of pre-season scrubs. We beat, BARELY, a team that is fielding about half an NFL football team. Yeah...not a whole lot of positives in this win other than we won. Whippity Doo....
The more I watch the more I like the Jets receivers. They just need a QB that can get them the ball. Decker, Harvin, and Kerley is a nice group of players. I even like TJ running those deep routes down field.
https://vine.co/v/O6Yi2JbWqQU I swear you can barely see who threw it at first. Sorry no GIF yet though - I will find it
2008 09 10 might be the 3 combined worst drafts in a row um ever lol I'm annoyed that in a WR heavy draft we got nada...if Dex and Shaq work out well this might turn into gold
that would be great if we had 3 years to fill the team with talent. unfortunately we dont and the team needs help now
Why, because you are impatient and spoiled? That's how drafts work, the reason people say it takes 3 years to properly evaluate them is because it takes about 3 years for young players to develop. Some can step in and contribute right away (like Richardson) but those are exception to the rule. Most young players need time.
