Well Draft or sign a TE. Maybe both.

    Didn't see this posted yet:

In addition to Ravens S Jim Leonhard, who will be arriving tonight for a visit, the Jets also are expecting former Bills TE Robert Royal to visit this evening. This was first reported by Lisa Zimmerman on her blog, jettingaroundwithlisaz.blogspot.com, and later confirmed.

Royal is an interesting player. He's got some receiving ability, as he caught 33 passes for 351 yards (both career highs) and a touchdown last season. The Bills cut him because of cap considerations (he was due to count $8 million) and he battled injuries last season.

Ugh. He's a big name. That's about it. Good for the Bills for cutting him. He's not worth half that. Maybe not even a quarter.

He screwed up at least once in every Bills game I watched.

I'd like the FO to bring in Daniel Wilcox
    Appalachian State kid

I wouldn't be opposed to signing Leonard Pope but don't want to give up any other draft picks since hes an RFA

Robert Royal is visiting the Jets on Saturday.
Royal would take Chris Baker's spot as the team's blocking tight end. He won't offer the same receiving ability, but he'll come at a cheaper price. -- Rotoworld

Let's put it this way...I stated earlier that we needed a blocking TE...and my reaction to this was "Ugh."

Royal has the reputation of being a good blocker. That's why he got that contract from the Bills. The reality is much, much different. I suppose there's always a chance he can turn things around, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'm not sure why Rotoworld is reporting that he'd come cheaper than Chris Baker. I don't see him seeking under $2 million.

We could always draft a Kyle Brady type TE with the 17th pick.

    Or an Anthony Becht.

I am hoping, with a run oriented offense, we resign Bubba Franks. Big man, catches the ball in the end zone. Works for me.

Franks is done. Let him retire in peace. What we need is a guy more like [gulp] Becht who is basically a tackle masquerading as a TE. That's the prototype we should be looking at.

i don't really understand you're problems here, i was merely asking if he can block... if he can't well then i don't want to see him here... besides we can draft one 2nd day perhaps

I can see him seeking $2million +, but I can't see anyone giving him that. He thinks he's better than he's worth.

I don't have a problem. Just taking a roundabout way of stating that his blocking skills are severely overrated.

Id Like To See The Jets Use What The Ravens Used With 3 Tackles On The Field At One Time. A True Jumbo Package.

Besides Every Position Doesnt Have To Be Filled By Free Agents. Super Bowl Teams Use The Draft Well And Late Draft Picks Play Quality Roles On The Team.

We used Turner alot last season when Franks was hurt. It actually seemed to work.

Actually I think Dresseen would be a good free agent to grab if he doesn't cost us any picks--he always plays hard.
