Backup TEs are a dime a dozen, you can get one in the late rounds. All a 2nd TE is good for is an extra blocker on short yardage, we may as well just use a tackle-eligible and save the roster spot

(I know we won't, but I'm just saying...)

But the list isn't minus the guys who already signed. I think thats the point they are trying to make?

I agree, except for the fact that our primary TE is Dustin Keller, whose blocking is suspect. We do need a reliable blocker at the position. I'd like to see us pick up someone, but on the cheap in FA, but on the cheap, as you say.

Yes its a complete list MINUS the guys on the list who already signed. The NFL source I copied and pasted the list from didnt delete any players who were signed.

Ugh. Try using some punctuation to clarify your position. What's the point of posting everyone without removing those already signed? A little effort on your part would save everyone from having to consider TEs who are no longer free agents.

This still doesn't answer the original point, which was that you listed this as a way to answer my request, and yet it still fails to do so.

The backup TE will probably be a late round draft pick that can block, or a cheap free agent. Its not going to be someone overly impressive

yeah, that was my basic point. now, without getting all angry and defensive (i know, that seems to be asking a lot on this board), just realize that if multiple people read your post to imply you had already removed the people who had signed, then maybe you werent clear. just a thought...

You misunderstood my post. I posted a list I got off of an NFL site. The list did not remove players that were already signed........

And we argued for the sake of NOTHING.

You meant to say This is a list of the guys plus the guys who already signed. Not minus.

    Jason Pociask

He bounced around a little. He was last seen on Tampa Bay but I don't know his current status

I think he'd be exactly the kind of cheap, good blocking, decent receiver TE the Jets could use.

Sucks that Baker went to the Pats! He's already good. When he plays us, he's gonna really want to stick it to us. Oh Shiite!

Do you remember when he head-butted Chad after his first touchdown ? The only problem was K-man was wearing his helmet, Chad was not ! Chad wasn't too thrilled to say the least.

Wouldn't be surprised to see another Raven vet and blocking TE Sypnieski end up here for cheap.

Remember when Pope had a large caucus on the board? None of these recent popular TEs have lived up to billing: Davis, Pope, Lewis, Patrick, Olsen...Let's hope Keller is the exception.

Major hole in our offense. as good as Keller will be he's a "tweener" who can't block. I understand freeing up Bakers cap $, but i can't help but think his lack of productivity was due to Favre. He was a pretty sure handed TE who wasn't a bad blocker. We have a serious hole at the position.
