He didn't pitch poorly the first inning tonight either. He should have been out of the inning without allowing a run.
Yeah well, that's bullshit. It was a tailor made double play ball and even if they only got the one at second the next batter hit a ground ball too. There shouldn't have been any runs that inning.
Nice to see some signs of life from this team tonight. Solid start by Tazawa especially when you consider his shit luck in the first. His command looked a little bit off what I've heard about him- not quite a strike machine but that will probably improve in later starts. The 5 strike out number in 4 innings was a pleasant surprise too.
well when you have a 90 mph fastball, command is everything. he missed it a bit in the first, but the ump started opening up, he started hitting it better after that.
Huh, I figured he wouldn't be coming back out this inning. He's had a few long waits and I thought he was at 93 pitches? Then again he got a k and quick pop-up after I started typing this.
Lowell should have been in there anyway. There is absolutely no reason at this point that Ortiz should be in the lineup over Lowell. Lowell should be the everyday DH with Martinez at 1st and Youkilis at 3rd. When Varitek needs a day off Ortiz can DH, but he should be the odd man out at this point. He's basically even with Varitek at the plate, but Varitek contributes defensively.
i think to give the pen a break. who has been reliable lately that hasn't pitched in the last couple days?
