    They're not "Moosing", they're "Booing"!

Well, as a thread starter, I am (0-1). Hopefully the Yankees rebound tomorrow.

It was Verlander and Moose, what can you expect going into the game?

Losing 3 straight is a bit uneasy, but i'll take a split series at this point.

verlander had been shaky lately, plus he was sick. historically, mussina has dominated the tigers (17-5 before tonight). The Yankees were solid favorites of like -145.

Just let Mussina face teams like KC and he'll be fine, i'd rather see karstens pitch against good teams than moose, at least it's understandable if he gets knocked around.

Expect Kennedy up after 9/1. Cashman pretty much confirmed that yesterday. It will be really interesting to see how or if they use him knowing Torre's track record on using people he doesn't "trust". One thing for sure, I would think, is that if they do bring him up they won't try to make a reliever out of him too.

But where would they use him then?

The starting rotation definitely has Wang and Hughes in it, since they are the future of the 1,2 spots (unless Chamberlain pushes one to 3.) Clemens will never be in the pen, and the same goes for Pettitte. Moose, as absolutely crappy as he is, could never pitch out of the pen. He can't pitch on anything but 5 days rest as it is, and even then, he can't pitch (I know Cappy, I should look at the numbers, sorry, but screw the numbers, Mussina is a steaming pile of Moose shit.)

If, (when,) Kennedy does come up, the only available place for him is the pen. Lord knows we could use the help there anyway. If they were considering bringing him up anyway, I don't get why they didn't bring him up for Rocket's missed start. I know you mentioned that Don, and the only reason I disagreed was because I figured we wouldn't see him this year at all.
    ----------------

Anyway, I'm done with the confidence and trying to have faith. I'm not holding my breath for a pleasant surprise, but I guess anything is possible. I just don't see how we can make a splash in the playoffs, even if we somehow made it at this point. As I've been saying all along, consistency is the key, and there is none with this team. The pitching is either dominant or terrible, and the bats are either scoring 10 or 2.

The only way this team wins is by getting out to early leads. Against the good pitching, that doesn't work out. Verlander pitched with the damn flu, threw far too many pitches, and still outdueled Moose.

I badly wanted to see this team come back, but they have let me down all year. That wasn't the consistency I've been preaching about.
    -----------------

BTW: I'm back to Torre bashing. 3 games straight we've lost, what has been the constant? The lineup that was winning has not been on the field together at ANY point. Joe's substituted for at least two guys every game. It's the same old story with Torre. The exact thing everyone feared when Giambi returned is exactly what's happening. It's Sheffield/Matsui Part II.

When Mussina is on the mound it's too predictable...

Seems we agree on all points there.

The obvious thing would be that Mussina loses his spot to Kennedy if he were to be brought up but we all know that won't happen. Kennedy has never made a relief appearance this year and you have to be really careful with that if they are accustomed to starting. That's why I don't know why they are saying they are going to bring him up. AAA is almost over, I guess he could sit in the pen as an emergency starter and just soak in the surroundings of Yankee Stadium.

Good article on Chamberlain and it mentions Kennedy too. Written by Rosenthal, an immense Yankee hater.

been a thunderstorm the last few hours, causing a delay in the bronx

The tarp was back on the field at 7:09 p.m. EST. The forecast calls for showers through the night, but the game is still expected to be played.

So five good starts get a grudging, "He's been alright." One bad start means he's a pile of moose shit. To each their own, I guess.

But I agree that Moose isn't going to the pen. I don't know where Kennedy would fit into that.
