I agree about a 9 yard run on 3rd and 10 but where have you proven Jones had alot of those runs and that Ricky didn't have any?

I'm not trying to prove anything Junc. If Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Thomas Jones were on my team, Thomas Jones wouldn't get on the field. If you would go with Jones that's your perogative. Jones is a solid journeyman NFL back. Ricky Williams is a threat on the football field. There isn't a down and distance situation where I would prefer Jones to Williams.

I would never want Ricky Williams on my team. The man has HOF talent and has squandered it. Jones gives all out efort, give me TJ any day over the overrated Ricky. Talent wise they aren't close, Ricky blows him away as he blows most RBs away but Ricky doesn't have the drive to win.

The question isn't, "who do you want on your team?", it's "who's the better back rite now?".

The answer is clearly Ricky Williams. He may not have the heart. He may not be reliable. He may not be a good teammate. But he IS a better back than Thomas Jones. Always has been, always will be.

If he is better why doesn't he produce more than TJ?

I don't think you can possibly say that on the field Willams hasn't always given 100%. Off the field is obviously a different story.

Because he's not a feature back in Miami's system.

Ricky Williams is a joke. If we're asking who had the most god given ability, then RW with-out question. But if you're asking who's better now, who I'd, in retrospect, go back and draft first to be the franchise RB, then Jones all the way, by a land slide. And if you're talking about pro careers, I think TJ will have far and away a better career.

If he wasn't such a headcase, the answer is Ricky..... BY FAR.

but all things considered, if I'm running a team you'd take everything into consideration, especially dependability and work ethic and choose Thomas Jones.

Too many homers here, including me. You won't get an honest answer on a Jets forum. Try a non AFC East teams forum and you might get a good answer.

Third and 1 you have both guys healthy on your bench who do you send in? 3rd and goal you have both guys on your bench who do you send in? 2nd and 8 who do you want in? In any football situation you can think of when are you putting Thomas Jones in ahead of a Healthy Ricky Williams?

I will take Thomas Jones on my team every time b/c thomas plays w/ passion. It wasn't a coincidence that Miami stopped making the playoffs once they got Ricky and when they got him they thought he was the missing piece to winning in January.

Again, Ricky has a HUGE edge in talent but the game is about more than talent.

Didn't Miami make the playoffs last year? How many times have the Jets made the playoffs since Thomas Jones became the feature back?

You also ducked the question completely and turned to charachter. Ricky apparently didn't upset the Dolphins clubhouse last year and Jones certainly didn't carry the team down the stretch to the playoffs with a far superior team at least according to you.

Ricky has played w/ Miami for 5 seasons and this was his first playoff app w/ them, his only other playoff app as a player(in 8 seasons) he was hurt down the stretch and didn't contribute. Jones 2 years ago carried a mediocre Bears O into the Super Bowl and was the only one to show up on SB Sunday.

I'm not ducking anything, I'll take Thomas Jones. Ricky was a complimentary back last yuear while Jones was a feature back. Ricky had the easier job and TJ was still more effective.

Jones was a big part of that mediocre O that was carried to the SB by the D. When the D got beat they were done. Jones played well in a blowout loss. Jones was also 3 years younger and was unloaded for practically nothing. Maybe he was a locker room problem?
