He doesn't need to go, but he may need to accept a pay cut, and get used to the fact that going forward, he might not be the lead dog in the Jets backfield any longer. With Greene's emergence and Leon's return, this is a very, very crowded backfield. They all have different skill sets, so theres room for them all, and dollars aren't particularly stretched since Greene's on a rookie deal and Leon will be on a tender. Still, TJ could potentially end up with the smallest role out of the three. I hate to draw a comparison to Bettis, because he was pretty much entirely washed up by the time the Steelers won that Super Bowl; TJ is years away from the 4 carries for 3 yards and 2 touchdowns statlines that Bettis had that year. But at the same time, TJ has to make room for a pair of excellent young backs behind him. Here's hoping an agreement can be reached so he can end his career in green and white, he certainly deserves a couple years of stability after years of getting bounced around the league.
I thought about that too but it's not like that Curtis was still effective then and it was like who do we go with People were just thinking lamont was more dangerous I don think ANYONE here even guys who love TJ would have rather seen TJ in the backfield than Shonn this playoffs
I for one totally agree with you. I think he is due a bonus in March. I would move on and see what, if anything we can get for him. Greene will obviously be #1 and Leon if healthy offers a great change of pace and receiving threat. Thanks to Thomas but we need to move on.
thomas jones is a good runningback and hopefully he has some trade value, greene and leon are the future of the jets backfield
Greene has far more talent than Lamont Jordan. Good god that is an awful example. Yes Jones is like Martin. Especially his last year when his knee was injured.
