take away every defensive play call today and the texans score a billion points. the "take this away" arguments are awful.
Over the last 3 seasons TJ is second in the NFL in rushing yards. Maybe we should take away all his long runs and recalculate that.
You take away all of our points scored and we lose the game. The whole "take away" argument is stupid yet people continue to use it. he rushed for over 100 yards today on 20 carries. i do not give a fuck how he got the 100 yrds or why, but he got 100+ yards and 2 tds, so i'm happy. ps. leon didn't have a great rushing game either. his biggest runs where out of the wild cat. funny noone bashes him tho. I love the bias on this board some times. we won, pretty easily at that. be happy and save the bitching about players and or coaches for when we lose, you'll live longer.
There's no comparison between what Jones did today and what he did last year. He almost never got stacked up at the line of scrimmage last year but that happened on 90% of his runs today. Jones actually had 3 good runs all day. The two long runs and the TD at the goal-line. Why was Sanchez in third down situations all day? Because Jones was reliably going for -3 to 3 yards on first down and putting the Jets behind the 8-ball. Sanchez bailed the Jet's offense out a half dozen times when they really should have been stopped based on their lousy first down running. For the record Jones had 4 runs of more than 3 yards all day and all 4 were in the 4th quarter when the Texans defense had been on the field for 30+ minutes already and the clock was rolling on them. Sanchez was why the Jets got that time of possession so high. Jones got the fringe benefits at the end when the Jets were already in control of the game against a tired, frustrated defense. Anybody who saw it differently really doesn't understand how this game developed. If Sanchez was not unconscious on third down all day, completing everything in sight, the Jets lose this game.
I think until opposing teams respect Sanchez's arm they will stack the box and cram the line. That's why later in the game he was able to break off some big runs, they were having to think pass too.
I watched the game. It was hardly Jones' fault he was being bottled up for most of the game. He had guys hitting him at or behind the line of scrimmage most of the game. Someone had to be in here to handle that load of getting pounded throughout the game though. In the end, once he finally got some holes opened up for him he took full advantage. Why should we take that away?
Yeah the reason I hated on Jones last season was for these reasons you claim never happened, this was basically a typical game for Jones last season but it always ended with him somehow amassing 80-100 yards a game with 2-3 games that were absolute dominations by Jones against some shitty teams.
How do the Jets lose if Sanchez isn't awesome on 3rd downs. The D was lights out!! Say what you want about TJ but the Jets dominated in all aspects of the game (except for penalties).
I don't think you guys understand what Brady and I are trying to get to. I don't want to rain on TJs performance but I just thought it was funny people were eating crow after a mediocre performance for 3/4 of a football gAme. Better conditioned, more athletic and stronger defenses will stop tJ. Ps. I hate how many times TJ got run down from behind today as well.
haha, i can't wait to see what some of you people say about this team when we lose our first game. same ol fans
As I have been saying the past 2 years, TJ is like Curtis Martin lite. He takes what is there, he isnt the game breaker that squeeks through a hole and breaks ankles all day like Leon. He just puts his head down and tends to find those 4-5 yards wherever they are. I have taken flack in the past for the comparison but it really is there as long as TJ has been a Jet, he really compares nearly identically to Martin. Can you believe the steal we got on that trade for Jones? We swapped second rounders with the Bears, we dropped what 9 spots in round 2 for TJ? thats gotta be one of our all time steals as far as trades for players go!
he had no chance on most of his runs. this is the same offensive line that made him the leading rusher in the afc last year. if he puts on similar performances for the next few weeks without the benefit of a few long runs i will start to get concerned. until this becomes a trend im gonna chalk it up to the texans selling out against the run and having no idea how to deal with sanchez playing like a 5 year vet.
