Yeah, but you can say this stuff about any draft . . . ever. The draft is a crap-shoot. All things being equal, of course you want the higher pick whenever possible. But, winning a game to spoil the season of a hated division rival vs. losing that game is NOT "equal." Every game the Jets play creates memories and feelings that can never be taken away. For fans who follow the team game in and game out, play in and play out, there is an enormous difference between winning 8 games and winning 2. That's six more Sundays with smiles and six more weeks of some positive feelings about the team following its last game. In a strange way, one of my favorite seasons ever was 1999. Yeah, losing Vinny for the year was crushing. But, I personally derived so much satisfaction from us rebounding from 1-6 to finish 8-8, with Ray Lucas leading the charge. I just thought that team showed so much character. I was proud of that team. And I personally believe that turnaround was one of the very finest coaching achievements of Bill Parcell's hall of fame career. Stuff like that just can't be measured by 10 spots in one NFL draft.
He has always had good offenses and pretty good protection. Indy may have been a little short in the defense department most years. He has had a pretty good career. But he really does not play like his regular season self in the playoffs. There is no getting around that. Hey, he never won it all at Tennessee either, even though he went back for a 4th year there. He is what he is. A hall of famer, a QB Brainiac. Not the best ever, in my book, but he is up there.
But how do you know what his scouts told him about Geno? Judging from the way the Jets pick, I question the validity of their board as a whole. That stuff usually comes from scouts' recommendations to a GM?
Actually I was here all along. I just think every Jets fan has earned the right to bitch and so I wasn't jumping in to threads to try to refute things that were said out of frustration.
