Tannenbaum should place 1 call. Ask Bill Cowher if he wants to coach the Jets. If he says no, Mangini stays. There really aren't many good coaches out there, unless we go get Marty. That's not something I'd like to do at this point.

I can't see Cowher coming here. If anything, he will take over the Panthers. He has roots in NC so it would make logical sense. I think he will stay retired for another year though.

I still don't think Mangini's eventual success would have been affected if we lost today. We barely squeaked out the win as it is.

Marty would bring us great regular seasons, but with first round playoff exits. No thanks.

I'd rather have Cowher as Director of Football Operations and Mangini as Head Coach than Tannenbaum as General Manager and Cowher as Head Coach.

    Haslett I didn't want, either.

It's funny you mention him, though. Like Mangini, he went 10-6 his first year and unlike Mangini, he coached his team to a playoff win. Then, Haslett's team went 7-9 the following year and didn't make the playoffs again till Sean Payton took over.

This was a notable thread in 2007 and it's worth reading again.
